Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Visualization Experiment of Velocity Boundary Layer in Rectangular Channel Using PIV Technique

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu, 2023
The plate-type fuel has compact structure and narrow coolant channel. The size effect of large aspect ratio makes the narrow rectangular channel have certain heat transfer enhancement effect, and can meet the requirements of miniaturization, high power ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Sonic Eddy Model of the Turbulent Boundary Layer

open access: yesFluids, 2022
The effects of Mach number on the skin friction and velocity fluctuations of the turbulent boundary layer are considered through a sonic eddy model. Originally proposed for free shear flows, the model assumes that the eddies responsible for momentum ...

Interaction between coherent structures and surface temperature and its effect on ground heat flux in an unstably stratified boundary layer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Surface layer plumes, thermals, downdrafts and roll vortices are the most prominent coherent structures in an unstably stratified boundary layer. They contribute most of the temperature and vertical velocity variance, and their time scales increase with ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Amplitude modulated near-wall cycle in a turbulent boundary layer under an adverse pressure gradient

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2013
This paper presents the effect of amplitude modulation of small-scale turbulence by large-scale structures in a turbulent boundary layer subjected to an adverse pressure gradient.

Similarity solutions of Prandtl mixing length modelled two dimensional turbulent boundary layer equations

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2022
The exact similarity solutions of two dimensional laminar boundary layer were obtained by Blasius in 1908, however, for two dimensional turbulent boundary layers, no Blasius type similarity solutions (special exact solutions) have ever been found. In the
