Submesoscales are a significant turbulence source in global ocean surface boundary layer
The turbulent ocean surface boundary layer is a key part of the climate system affecting both the energy and carbon cycles. Accurately simulating the boundary layer is critical in improving climate model performance, which deeply relies on our ...

Visualization Experiment of Velocity Boundary Layer in Rectangular Channel Using PIV Technique
The plate-type fuel has compact structure and narrow coolant channel. The size effect of large aspect ratio makes the narrow rectangular channel have certain heat transfer enhancement effect, and can meet the requirements of miniaturization, high power ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

On the merging of turbulent spots in a supersonic boundary-layer flow
The complex transition flow physics associated with the merging of turbulent spots in a Mach 2 boundary-layer has been studied using direct numerical simulation. Dynamics of an isolated turbulent spot, merging of laterally displaced spots, and merging of

Sonic Eddy Model of the Turbulent Boundary Layer
The effects of Mach number on the skin friction and velocity fluctuations of the turbulent boundary layer are considered through a sonic eddy model. Originally proposed for free shear flows, the model assumes that the eddies responsible for momentum ...

Boundary-layer turbulence as a kangaroo process [PDF]
A nonlocal mixing-length theory of turbulence transport by finite size eddies is developed by means of a novel evaluation of the Reynolds stress. The analysis involves the contruct of a sample path space and a stochastic closure hypothesis. The simplifying property of exhange (strong eddies) is satisfied by an analytical sampling rate model.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Direct numerical simulation of a decelerated wall-bounded turbulent shear flow [PDF]
A fully developed turbulent channel flow is subjected to a mean strain that approximates that in a spatially developing adverse-pressure-gradient (APG) boundary layer. This is done by applying uniform irrotational temporal deformations to the flow domain

We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
