Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Mechanisms of turbulent flame propagation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Measurements are reported of premixed hydrogen-air turbulent burning velocities, made by the double kernel method during explosions. Turbulence was created by four high speed fans driven by electric motors within the explosion vessel.

On the generation of drift flows in wall-bounded flows transiting to turbulence

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2018
: Despite recent progress, laminar-turbulent coexistence in transitional planar wall-bounded shear flows is still not well understood. Contrasting with the processes by which chaotic flow inside turbulent patches is sustained at the local (minimal flow ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Large-Eddy Simulation of Flow Separation and Control on a Wall-Mounted Hump [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Active flow control techniques such as synthetic jets have been successful in increasing the performance of naturally separating flows on post-stall airfoils, bluff body shedding, and internal flows such as wide-angle diffusers.

Measurement of turbulent flow in a narrow open channel

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2016
The paper presents the experimental results of turbulent flow over hydraulically smooth and rough beds. Experiments were conducted in a rectangular flume under the aspect ratio b/h = 2 (b = width of the channel 0.5 m, and h = flow depth 0.25 m) for both ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Study of jet precession, recirculation and vortex breakdown in turbulent swirling jets using LES. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Large eddy simulations (LES) are used to investigate turbulent isothermal swirling flows with a strong emphasis on vortex breakdown, recirculation and instability behaviour.

SIMULATION OF TURBULENCE AS A «VORTEX BACKFILL»

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Проблемы энергетики, 2018
The new method of simulation and the turbulent flow research, based on representation about turbulence as a current through «vortex backfill» is offered. The method of local fluctuations offered earlier is applied to its realization.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
