Pathogenicity for Chickens of a Reovirus Isolated from Turkeys

Avian Diseases, 1980
A viral agent that was isolated from livers of commercial turkey poults that died at approximately two weeks of age was characterized as a reovirus. Experimental infection of day-old chickens with this reovirus isolate resulted in the development of tenosynovitis, hepatitis, and myocarditis.

Quantitation of Intestinal d-Xylose Absorption in Normal and Reovirus-Inoculated Turkeys

Avian Diseases, 1984
A micromethod was modified to quantitate intestinal D-xylose absorption in young and extremely small birds. This test was performed in control and cloned-reovirus-inoculated turkey poults to investigate intestinal absorptive function. Absorption peaks and curves for control poults closely resembled those observed in normal humans. Poult groups absorbed

A Multiplex RT-PCR for the Detection of Astrovirus, Rotavirus, and Reovirus in Turkeys

Avian Diseases, 2012
This study was undertaken to develop and validate a multiplex reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (mRT-PCR) for simultaneous detection of avian rotavirus, turkey astrovirus-2 (TAstV-2), and avian reovirus. Primers targeting the conserved regions of NSP4 gene of avian rotavirus, polymerase gene of TAstV-2, and S4 gene of avian reovirus were ...
