The Sites of Action of some Histamin-Releasing Substances in the Dog [PDF]

open access: yes, 1957
1. The rates of histamine release from the liver, skin and muscle by four kinds of histamine-releasing substances, sinomenine, compound 48/80, tween 20 and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), were compared by intravenous injection in dogs, each in a dosage to ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

The Effect of Adding Surfactants on Appearance Specification and Nutrients Content of Processed Corn Grain using Steam-Flaked Technique [PDF]

open access: yesپژوهشهای علوم دامی ایران
Introduction[1]: Corn grain is one of the main sources of energy in the dairy cow diets; about 70% of corn's weight is due to starch. The starch granule is the basic unit of starch in corn endosperm and is a part of the starch–protein matrix.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.
