Modeling of solidification in twin-roll strip casting
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2000Abstract Twin-roll continuous casting combines solidification and hot rolling into a single operation to produce thin strips that are directly coilable. It offers advantages of low capital investment and low operational cost, and the strips produced have a refined solidification microstructure, which has attracted interest of global metal producers ...

A twin-roll caster to cast clad strip
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2003Abstract A single-roll caster and two kinds of twin-roll casters to cast clad strips were designed and assembled. One of twin-roll casters was suitable for clad strip casting. This twin-roll caster can cast clad strips of aluminum alloys at the speed of 20 m/min. The thickness of the clad strip is about 2.0 mm.

Water Modeling of Twin-Roll Strip Casting
Journal of Iron and Steel Research International, 2006Twin-roll strip casting is regarded as a prospective technology of near net shape continuous casting. The fluid flow field and level fluctuation in the pool have a strong influence not only on composition and temperature homogeneity of pool, but also on the strip quality.

Strip formation and process stability in twin roll strip casting
Steel Research, 2001Process stability in the thin strip casting process of steel has been investigated with a laboratory pilot caster. Depending on the steel grade and the process parameters irregular process states could be observed. It has been proved experimentally that the observed behaviour is not caused by the regulation system.

Production of Clad Steel Strips by Twin‐Roll Strip Casting
Advanced Engineering Materials, 2015This work presents the results obtained from the experimental investigations performed on the production of steel clad strips by vertical twin‐roll strip casting with a combination of the austenitic stainless steel 1.4301 and the carbon steel 1.1248. This production method is based on the introduction of a solid strip between the casting rolls, where ...

Vertical Twin-Roll Strip Casting of Steel
2015Vertical strip casting enables the near-net-shape production of hot rolled steel strip in a compact process. In less than half a second, the liquid steel melt solidifies in contact with the casting rolls to a one to five millimetres thin strip. Since the strip casting process combines casting and rolling in one single process, slab re-heating and ...

Twin-roll casting of aluminum–steel clad strips
Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2013Abstract The results of experiments on twin-roll casting of aluminum–steel clad strips are presented. For the first time this energy-saving production technology for a clad material of this metals combination was implemented. Besides the experimental equipment and processing details, the results of metallographic, electron microprobe and transmission

Casting of Clad Strip by a Twin Roll Caster
Materials Science Forum, 2014Clad strip consisting of 5182 aluminum alloy and other aluminum alloys could be cast using a twin roll caster equipped with a scraper. This twin roll caster could carry out the strip casting and the bonding of the strips. The equipment, that was developed to prevent the contact between the bonding surface of the strip and oxidizing environment, was ...
