Two-fluid model of the truncated Euler equations [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 2008
A phenomenological two-fluid model of the (time-reversible) spectrally-truncated 3D Euler equation is proposed. The thermalized small scales are first shown to be quasi-normal. The effective viscosity and thermal diffusion are then determined, using EDQNM closure and Monte-Carlo numerical computations.

A two-fluid model for two-phase flow in PEMFCs

open access: yes, 2007
In this study, a two-fluid (TF) model is developed for two-phase flows in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The drag force and lift force between gas and liquid phase are considered in N-S equations.

Ovarian Sex Cord Stromal Tumors in Children and Adolescents—The European Standard Clinical Practice Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As part of the European Cooperative Study Group for Paediatric Rare Tumours initiative, we developed standard clinical practice guidelines for ovarian sex cord stromal tumors, based on comprehensive national and international cohort analyses, literature review, and a final expert consensus conference.

Pediatric Idiopathic Multicentric Castleman Disease Is Often Severe But Responsive to Siltuximab

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) is a potentially fatal immunologic disorder marked by widespread lymphadenopathy and inflammation. Siltuximab, an interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) inhibitor, is the only FDA‐approved treatment for adult patients with iMCD.

Venetoclax‐Based Therapy as a Bridge to Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Relapsed or Refractory Pediatric Acute Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Relapsed and/or refractory (R/R) pediatric acute leukemia carries a dismal prognosis, largely driven by chemoresistance to conventional salvage therapy. The BH3‐mimetic venetoclax, combined with chemotherapy or hypomethylating agents, has demonstrated efficacy in small clinical trials.

Chemotherapy for Spinal Cord Intramedullary Pediatric Low‐Grade Glioma—A Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric intramedullary low‐grade gliomas (PIMLGGs) are rare neoplasms that present unique clinical and management challenges. Although surgery remains the primary tool for tissue diagnosis and decompression, complete gross‐total resection is frequently unfeasible due to the infiltrative nature of these lesions.

Experiments and CFD modeling of high-velocity two-phase flows in a large chute aerator facility

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2019
Mathematical formulations of two-phase flows at an aerator remain a challenging issue for spillway design. Due to their complexities in terms of water–air interactions subjected to high flow velocities, experiments play an essential role in evaluations ...

Assessment of Irregular Biomass Particles Fluidization in Bubbling Fluidized Beds

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Biomass as a clean and renewable source of energy has immense potential to aid in solving the energy crisis in the world. In order to accurately predict the fluidization behavior of biomass particles using the Eulerian–Eulerian approach and the kinetic ...

Exercise Capacity, Physical Activity, Fatigue, and Neurocognitive Function in Adult Survivors of Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Adult survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at risk of reduced exercise capacity, decreased physical activity levels, persistent fatigue, and neurocognitive deficits. The aim was to investigate exercise capacity and physical activity levels of adult survivors of childhood ALL and their associations with ...
