Evaluation of Interfacial Heat Transfer Models for Flashing Flow with Two-Fluid CFD
The complexity of flashing flows is increased vastly by the interphase heat transfer as well as its coupling with mass and momentum transfers. A reliable heat transfer coefficient is the key in the modelling of such kinds of flows with the two-fluid ...

CFD-Simulation of Isobutane Dehydrogenation for a Fluidized Bed Reactor
In the present study, a mathematical model of the isobutane dehydrogenation process for a laboratory reactor with a diameter of 2.8 cm and a height of 70 cm was created using CFD methods.

Influence of the grain size and the fluid viscosity on the collapse of submerged sand columns
Granular flows are ubiquitous in natural phenomena and are also used in various industrial applications. Nonetheless, they exhibit counter-intuitive behaviour as well as complex rheological behaviour, making them challenging to fully understand and model.

ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Nonlinear Wave Equations for Pressure Wave Propagation in Liquids Containing Gas Bubbles
Based on the unified theory by the present authors (Kanagawa et al., J. Fluid Sci. Tech., 5, 2010), the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers (KdVB) equation and the nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation with an attenuation term for weakly nonlinear waves in ...

A Two Pressure Numerical Model of Two Fluid Mixing [PDF]
Summary: We present a numerical model of two fluid mixing based on hyperbolic equations having complete state variables (velocity, pressure, temperature) for each fluid. The model is designed for the study of acceleration driven mixing layers in a chunk mix regime dominated by large scale coherent mixing structures.

ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Simulation of Two-Phase Flow and Syngas Generation in Biomass Gasifier Based on Two-Fluid Model
The efficient use of renewable energy is receiving more and more attention in the context of “carbon neutrality” and “carbon peaking”. For a long time, biomass has been used less efficiently as a renewable energy source, but with the development of ...
