Using machine learning‐based decision tree models, patients with perihilar cholangiocarcinoma undergoing major hepatectomy with extrahepatic bile duct resection were stratified according to the risk of posthepatectomy liver failure. Separate models were developed with and without indocyanine green data, enabling clinically interpretable preoperative ...

Is faster always better? A comparative study between associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy vs classic portal vein ligation for two-stage hepatectomy in rats [PDF]
Background: The associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) has been proposed to avoid liver failure after major liver resection.

In this multicenter retrospective study conducted by the Biliary Tract Club, we compared survival outcomes between gemcitabine–cisplatin–S‐1 (GCS) and gemcitabine–cisplatin (GC) in patients with unresectable biliary tract cancer, with a particular focus on conversion surgery. GCS was associated with longer overall and progression‐free survival compared

HCC patients with low preoperative TIBC levels experienced significantly more frequent post‐hepatectomy complications. Furthermore, these patients were significantly correlated with worse survival. Preoperative serum TIBC levels may be a novel surrogate marker of postoperative complications and long‐term survival after hepatectomy.
