Shape Memory Alloys (Part I): Significant Properties [PDF]

open access: yesKemija u Industriji, 2014
Shape memory alloys (SMAs) belong to a group of functional materials with the unique property of “remembering” the shape they had before pseudoplastic deformation.

3D Printed Shape Memory Polymers Produced via Direct Pellet Extrusion

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
Shape memory polymers (SMPs) are materials capable of changing their structural configuration from a fixed shape to a temporary shape, and vice versa when subjected to a thermal stimulus.

Shape memory performance of asymmetrically reinforced epoxy/carbon fibre fabric composites in flexure

open access: yes, 2013
In this study asymmetrically reinforced epoxy (EP)/carbon fibre (CF) fabric composites were prepared and their shape memory properties were quantified in both unconstrained and fully constrained flexural tests performed in a dynamic mechanical analyser ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Epoxy/Polycaprolactone Systems with Triple-Shape Memory Effect: Electrospun Nanoweb with and without Graphene Versus Co-Continuous Morphology

open access: yes, 2013
Triple-shape memory epoxy (EP)/polycaprolactone (PCL) systems (PCL content: 23 wt %) with different structures (PCL nanoweb embedded in EP matrix and EP/PCL with co-continuous phase structure) were produced.

Two-Way Shape Memory Effect and Viscoelastic Properties in NiTiHf Polycrystals Containing Nanosized Particles

open access: yes, 2023
The effect of stress-induced martensite aging on the microstructure, viscoelastic properties, and one-way and two-way shape memory effect in high-temperature Ni50.2Ti37.3Hf12.5 aged polycrystals in tension was investigated.

Effect of aging on the martensitic transformation and functional properties of a Ni44.8Ti45.2Hf5Cu5 multi component shape memory alloy

open access: yesDiscover Mechanical Engineering
In this study, a Ni44.8Ti45.2Hf5Cu5 shape memory alloy was fabricated by vacuum arc-melting in a copper mold. The alloy was solution annealed at 1000 °C for 60 min and subsequently aged at a temperature range between 300 °C and 600 °C for different time ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Effects of Predefined Thermomechanical Procedure on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of the Two-Way Shape Memory Effect in the NiTi Alloy

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2023
In the current paper, a predefined thermomechanical procedure has been applied to the two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) in a NiTi alloy to study the effect of two different applied load conditions on the induced martensitic state. The microstructure of
