BMI and mortality in patients with new-onset type 2 diabetes: a comparison with age- and sex-matched control subjects from the general population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objective: Type 2 diabetes is strongly associated with obesity, but the mortality risk related to elevated body weight in people with type 2 diabetes compared with people without diabetes has not been established.

Respiratory complex I‐mediated NAD+ regeneration regulates cancer cell proliferation through the transcriptional and translational control of p21Cip1 expression by SIRT3 and SIRT7

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
NAD+ regeneration by mitochondrial complex I NADH dehydrogenase is important for cancer cell proliferation. Specifically, NAD+ is necessary for the activities of NAD+‐dependent deacetylases SIRT3 and SIRT7, which suppress the expression of p21Cip1 cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor, an antiproliferative molecule, at the translational and transcriptional

Diabetes prediction using Machine Learning algorithms and ontology [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of ICT Standardization, Volume 10, Issue 2, Pages 319 - 338, 2022, 2012
Diabetes is one of the chronic diseases, which is increasing from year to year. The problems begin when diabetes is not detected at an early phase and diagnosed properly at the appropriate time. Different machine learning techniques, as well as ontology-based ML techniques, have recently played an important role in medical science by developing an ...

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Genetics and Pathophysiology of Maturity-onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY): A Review of Current Trends [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Single gene mutations have been implicated in the pathogenesis of a form of diabetes mellitus (DM) known as the maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY). However, there are diverse opinions on the suspect genes and pathophysiology, necessitating the need to review and communicate the genes to raise public awareness.
