Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Comprehensive molecular characterization of human colon and rectal cancer

open access: yesNature, 2012
To characterize somatic alterations in colorectal carcinoma, we conducted a genome-scale analysis of 276 samples, analysing exome sequence, DNA copy number, promoter methylation and messenger RNA and microRNA expression.

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

On a quasigroup prolongation and its recursive differentiability

open access: yesActa et Commentationes: Ştiinţe Exacte şi ale Naturii
We consider a method of quasigroups prolongation by adding two new elements and by using two transversals that intersect in exactly one cell. In a Latin square L of order q, along with usual transversals we call "free transversals" any set of q cells ...

Small-convection limit for two-dimensional chemotaxis-Navier–Stokes system with logarithmic sensitivity and logistic-type source

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2022
In this paper, we consider the small-convection limit of chemotaxis-Navier–Stokes system with logarithmic sensitivity and logistic-type source { n t κ + u κ ⋅ ∇ n κ = Δ n κ − χ ∇ ⋅ ( n κ ∇ log c κ ) + f ( n κ ) , x ∈ Ω , t > 0 , c t κ + u κ ⋅ ∇ c κ = Δ c

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Enhanced production of multi-strange hadrons in high-multiplicity proton–proton collisions [PDF]

open access: yesNature Physics, 2016
Quark–gluon plasma is an exotic state of matter that can emerge in heavy nuclei high-energy collisions. The ALICE collaboration reports the first observation of strangeness enhancement in proton–proton collisions, a possible signature of this state.

Existence of nontrivial solutions for fractional Schrödinger equations with electromagnetic fields and critical or supercritical nonlinearity

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2020
In this paper, we study the following fractional Schrödinger equation with electromagnetic fields and critical or supercritical nonlinearity: ( − Δ ) A s u + V ( x ) u = f ( x , | u | 2 ) u + λ | u | p − 2 u , x ∈ R N , $$ (-\Delta )_{A}^{s}u+V(x)u=f ...

The Borel-Weil theorem for reductive Lie groups

open access: yes, 2015
In this manuscript we consider the extent to which an irreducible representation for a reductive Lie group can be realized as the sheaf cohomolgy of an equivariant holomorphic line bundle defined on an open invariant submanifold of a complex flag space ...
