Mechanisms of Aristolochic Acid Resistance in Specialist Butterflies and Evolutionary Insights for Potential Protective Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 19, 2 April 2026.
The study provides an extreme example of insect adaptation to highly toxic defenses of host plants, and investigates the complex strategies to resist carcinogenic aristolochic acids, including physical isolation, metabolic detoxification, and DNA repair.

Transcriptome and genome-wide analysis of the mango glycosyltransferase family involved in mangiferin biosynthesis

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Mangiferin, a C-glucosyl xanthone, is a biologically active glycoside naturally synthesized in mango. Glycosyltransferase can catalyze the biosynthesis of mangiferin. In this study, we identified 221 members of the UGT glycosyltransferase family in mango.

Clinical Study to Evaluate Drug Interactions of Cannabidiol with Citalopram and Morphine in Healthy Adults

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 119, Issue 4, Page 1095-1104, April 2026.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant bioactive cannabinoids. Research has demonstrated CBD’s ability to inhibit metabolic enzymes like cytochrome P450 (CYP) and UDP‐glucuronosyltransferase (UGT), potentially leading to drug interactions. However, clinical knowledge gaps remain, particularly with regard to drugs that are more commonly taken by ...

THE EXPERIENCE OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF SOME CULTIVATED PLANTS WITH THE GENE UGT ENCODING THE SYNTHESIS OF UDPG-TRANSFERASE IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE HORMONAL STATUS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stress Physiology & Biochemistry, 2012
The gene ugt/iaglu was isolated from cDNA library obtained from seedlings of Zea mays L. Positive clones prepared by Lambda ZAPII (Stratagene, USA) procedure were screened via western blot with antibodies to UDPG-transferase from corn endosperm raised in

Different Transcriptional Responses to Developmental Versus Short‐Term Acclimation Temperatures in Pieris rapae

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Transcriptomic data indicates that gene expression responses underlying developmental thermal plasticity differ from those of short‐term acclimation temperature in the butterfly Pieris rapae. We also identify a small subset of genes for which expression levels depend on the interaction of developmental temperature and short‐term acclimation temperature.

Identification, Molecular Cloning, and Functional Characterization of a Wheat UDP-Glucosyltransferase Involved in Resistance to Fusarium Head Blight and to Mycotoxin Accumulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Plant uridine diphosphate (UDP)-glucosyltransferases (UGT) catalyze the glucosylation of xenobiotic, endogenous substrates and phytotoxic agents produced by pathogens such as mycotoxins.

Tetraopes Milkweed Beetle Genomes Elucidate the Adaptive Basis of a Temperate Coevolutionary Radiation

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 26, Issue 3, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The coevolutionary radiation of 27 species of Tetraopes longhorned beetles and their Asclepias milkweed hosts represents a classic example of adaptive evolution driven by plant chemical defences and herbivore counteradaptations. Investigations to date, however, have focused on a single species, Tetraopes tetrophthalmus, which feeds on the ...
