Ultrasonic C-scan evaluation of Ti-alloy/Al brazed joint
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013An indigenously developed brazed joint of Al/Ti was characterized by ultrasonic C-scan method. The study revealed certain debond locations in the brazed joint. These debond locations would have resulted due to the failure of filler material’s joining ability.

Vibro-Acoustography: Speckle Free Ultrasonic C-Scan
2002In an in vitro experiment the acoustic emission characteristics of broken and intact struts on BSCC valves exhibited different frequency responses and different vibro-acoustography images. The images indicated that the vibration modes of the object could be deduced in addition to the structural integrity of the object.

Experimental ESD method for restoration of blurry image in ultrasonic C-Scan
2010 International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2010A 2-D Deconvolution method for the improvement of ultrasonic defocused C-scan images is presented by using experimental Edge Spread Distribution (ESD) of transducer. In the paper, experiments corresponding different imaging depth were implemented to establish a relation of the ESD and blurry C-scan images.

Neural network-based ultrasonic C-scan imaging of austenitic structures
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1999Results of new studies of C-scan imaging on austenitic welds, used in conjunction with artificial neural network techniques, are reported. The C-scan technique provides high-resolution images of subsurface zones which are inaccessible by conventional A-scans.

A clustering-based damage segmentation for ultrasonic C-Scans of CFRP plates
2015 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2015Despite their desirable mechanical properties, damage propagation in carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP) due to manufacturing flaws and continued use may particularly be hard to assess. In this work, damage maps are generated to identify the health state of a CFRP plate from ultrasonic signals obtained under C-Scan mode.

Ultrasonic C-scan Image Restoration Using Radial Basis Function Network
2004A method for restoration of ultrasonic C-scan images is presented by using a radial basis function network. The method attempts to reproduce the mapping between the degraded C-scan image and the high quality one by training a RBF network. The inputs for training are the sub-images divided from C-scan image of flat-bottom hole of size 3mm and the output

"Synthetic axial acquisition" full resolution C-Scan ultrasonic imaging
IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 2005., 2006This work relates to efficient and low cost acquisition of beamformer data for C-Scan imaging. In our previously described Directly Sampled In-phase and Quadrature (DSIQ) approach (1), as few as one complex sample per array element is used. In the 'Synthetic Axial Acquisition' (SAA) approach presented here, we take advantage of the fact that we use an ...

Imaging of the Ultrasonic Velocity and Reflection Properties of Objects by a C-Scan Method
1984A method and imaging system for the measurement of the ultrasonic velocity and reflection properties of objects are described. Some preliminary images of test cylinders and brain specimen are shown and the various imaging difficulties are discussed. The measured velocity values are in agreement with those found in the literature and in the images a ...

Fiber orientation study using ultrasonic C-scan of ply interfaces
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2002A new method for direct mapping of ply orientations in composite laminates is presented. The method employs normal incidence ultrasound to scan ply interfaces and produce C-scan images that contain primarily the fiber orientation information of local plies.

Ultrasonic C-Scan Standardization for Polymer-Matrix Composites - Acoustic Considerations
1998Ultrasonic C-scan inspection techniques are widely used for the non-destructive evaluation of fiber-reinforced polymer composites. A C-scan is any two-dimensional scan of a specimen that produces a map of a parameter, such as reflected amplitude, as it varies across the surface of the specimen.
