Microstructure Characterization of Cancellous Bone Based on Ultrasonic C-Scan Imaging

2017
Ultrasonic backscatter signals can reflect the microstructural information of cancellous bone. The goal of this study is to characterize the microstructure of cancellous bone in the mesoscale and estimate trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), trabecular bone separation (Tb.Sp), bone volume fraction (BV/TV) and structure model index (SMI) based on ultrasonic C ...

Improving Ultrasonic C-Scan Resolution Using the Hilbert-Huang Transform

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2005
The Hilbert Huang Transform (HHT) is applied to ultrasonic mapping of simulated defects in an aluminum plate. C‐Scanning tests are conducted using pulse‐echo ultrasound on a water‐immersed aluminum plate containing a matrix of 16 unevenly‐spaced flat‐bottomed holes.

The ultrasonic C-Scan technique for damage evaluation of GFRP composite materials [PDF]

open access: possible, 2016
We show experimental results obtained by an innovative non-destructive approach for the characterization of the damage of composite materials. The analysis regard an aeronautical rotor made of glass fiber–reinforced composite material, and is developed by applying an ultrasonic immersion C-Scan technique.
