Safety and Efficacy of Direct Cryobiopsy Specimen Retrieval Through the 3.0‐mm Working Channel of a Therapeutic Bronchoscope Using a 1.1‐mm Cryoprobe: A Multicentre Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesRespirology, EarlyView.
Safety and efficacy of direct 1.1‐mm cryobiopsy specimen retrieval through a 3.0‐mm therapeutic bronchoscope channel were evaluated. The technique achieved 87.5% overall diagnostic yield, produced specimens three times larger than forceps biopsy, and caused Grade 3 bleeding in only 2.1%.

Transbronchial Access of Solitary Pulmonary Nodules Without Bronchus Sign Using a Novel Puncture Dilatation Catheter: Initial Feasibility Experience

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
This case series reports the initial clinical experience using a novel, single‐use transbronchial puncture dilatation catheter compatible with thin bronchoscopes. In two distinct cases involving a lung nodule with negative bronchus sign and a stenotic airway, the device successfully facilitated ‘off‐road’ access and radial EBUS verification, enabling ...

Bronchoscopy in Rural Areas? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Quality of bronchoscopy performed by one single pulmonologist in a scarcely populated subarctic area was compared to the guidelines provided by the British Thoracic Society (BTS). 103 patients underwent bronchoscopy. Diagnostic yield was increased to 76.

A Review of Breath Sensing for Disease Monitoring and Diagnosis: Breathomics, Artificial Intelligence, and Nanomaterials for the Future of Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, Volume 5, Issue 7, July 2026.
Breathomics is established as a non‐invasive diagnostic strategy by combining volatile organic compound biomarkers, nanomaterial‐based sensor arrays, and AI‐driven classification. Key diseases, sensing materials, and analytical challenges are critically compared, revealing how portable, data‐enabled breath platforms are moving toward clinically useful ...

Diagnostic Performance of Radial EBUS‐Guided Cryobiopsy for Peripheral Lung Lesions: First Experience in Morocco

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 20, Issue 7, July 2026.
Radial EBUS‐guided transbronchial cryobiopsy using a 1.1‐mm cryoprobe achieved a 75.3% diagnostic yield for peripheral lung lesions in 73 patients, with no severe hemorrhage. Protocolized balloon blocker use effectively controlled all bleeding events, supporting cryobiopsy as a feasible, safe alternative to conventional forceps biopsy.

Electrical and chemical characterisation of ultrathin transistor gate dielectric layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This work examines the suitability of both ultrathin Silicon Oxynitride (SiON) and Hafnium Silicate (HfSiON) layers to be used as high-permittivity gate dielectrics to serve as a replacement to silicon dioxide (Si0 2 )in future Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (

Value of ultrathin bronchoscope in improving the endobronchial ultrasound localization rate and diagnosing peripheral pulmonary nodules by cryobiopsy

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine
Background A 3.0-mm ultrathin bronchoscope (UTB) with a 1.7-mm working channel provides better accessibility to peripheral bronchi. A 4.0-mm thin bronchoscope with a larger 2.0-mm working channel facilitates the use of a guide sheath (GS), ensuring ...

Cascade‐Responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF Heterostructure Integrates Antioxidant Activity, Infection Control, and Vascularization for Tracheal Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 28, 18 May 2026.
A cascade‐responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF/GelMA hydrogel is engineered as a “skeleton–backpack” platform for extensive tracheal repair. The MXene framework scavenges postoperative ROS and converts NIR light into mild hyperthermia, while the Cu‐MOF component provides pH/NIR‐responsive Cu2+ dosing for infection control, angiogenesis, and chondrogenesis.

Application of Interventional Bronchoscopy in Pulmonary Peripheral Lesions

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2016
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. A low cure rate of lung cancer is not only attributed to intrinsic aggressive biological behavior, but also little attention to lung cancer screening.
