Altaid Plateau forced Late Triassic Earth’s freezing state

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Late Triassic was critical in paving the age of dinosaurs and emergence of modern ecosystems. The end-Triassic mass extinction ( ~201 Ma) was triggered by warming, linked to massive volcanism, yet evidence suggests freezing conditions prevailed before ...

Silica Waveguide Thermo-Optic Mode Switch with Bimodal S-Bend

open access: yesNanomaterials
A silica waveguide thermo-optic mode switch with small radius bimodal S-bends is demonstrated in this study. The cascaded multimode interference coupler is adopted to implement the E11 and E21 mode selective output. The beam propagation method is used in

Conformational Transduction Amplification in a Biomimetic Polyelectrolyte for Ultrasensitive Imaging of Iron Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work designs a peptide‐free polyelectrolyte with stable, switchable conformations and near‐infrared fluorescence in water. It harnesses a cooperative Fe3+‐triggered sheet‐to‐helix transition to generate nonlinear fluorescence quenching, enabling the ultrasensitive, real‐time visualization of Fe3+ ion distribution and metabolic trafficking at ...

Discovery and Characterization of White Dwarf–FGK Main-sequence Binaries within the Optical Main-sequence Locus

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
White dwarf–main sequence (WDMS) binaries provide important laboratories for studying binary evolution and the formation of low-mass white dwarfs. In this work, we identify 654 reliable WDMS candidates with FGK-type companions from an initial set of 772 ...

Unraveling the Dominant Size Effect in Polydisperse Solutions and Maximal Electric Field Enhancement of Gold Nanoparticles

open access: yesPhotonics
In this study, we systematically investigate theoretically and experimentally the plasmonic effect and roles of big and small gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) within a mixed solution. The polydisperse solution was initially prepared by mixing small (10, 30 nm)

Nano‐Confined Radical Anion as An NIR‐II Photothermal Immunogenic Amplifier for In Situ Cancer Vaccination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nano‐confined radical anion acts as a photothermal immunogenic amplifier. Kinetically stabilized nanoparticles couple high near‐infrared‐II (NIR‐II) photothermal efficacy with glutathione (GSH) depletion to boost reactive oxygen species (ROS) and immunogenic cell death (ICD).

Femtosecond‐Laser Nanocavitation Regenerates SERS‐Active Plasmonic Nanogaps for Longitudinal Molecular Sensing at Biointerfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A regenerative molecular sensing platform that co‐localizes surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) sensing and nanocavitation‐based actuation. Femtosecond‐laser triggered nanocavitation produces thermomechanical forces to locally regenerate SERS‐active nanogaps in protein‐rich biofluids while preserving optical performance.
