Experimental implementation of algebraic identifier for unbalance parameters in a rotor-bearing system

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering
This article presents experimental results on the algebraic identification of the magnitude and phase angle of unbalance in a rotor-bearing system in a Jeffcott configuration.

Rotordynamic and Friction Loss Measurements on a High Speed Laval Rotor Supported by Floating Ring Bearings

open access: yesLubricants, 2017
Floating ring bearings are the commonly used type of bearing for automotive turbochargers. The automotive industry continuously investigates how to reduce the bearing friction losses and how to create silent turbochargers.

Progress depends on unbalance and disorder [PDF]

open access: yes1997 International Symposium on Technology and Society Technology and Society at a Time of Sweeping Change. Proceedings, 2002
Walking is a state of unbalanced body-not to fall down, it takes away. Technology is another state of progress depending on unbalanced structures of human functions and relations. In balanced societies and cultures which are considered as technologically primitive, what we see is a lack of technology, but also a state of balance and order.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Functional assessment of patients with vertigo and dizziness in occupational medicine

open access: yesMedycyna Pracy, 2018
Background Balance assessment relies on symptoms, clinical examination and functional assessment and their verification in objective tests. Our study was aimed at calculating the assessment compatibility between questionnaires, functional scales and ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Fault diagnosis method for rotor system of centrifugal compressor units

open access: yesYou-qi chuyun, 2023
The rotor system of the centrifugal compressor unit comprises the rotor and the support structure. The change in the rotor balance state and the abnormal stiffness of the composite spring are common faults of the rotor system.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Active Currents, Power Factor, and Apparent Power for Practical Power Delivery Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Concepts of apparent power and power factor as measures of a system's power delivery capability are over a century old but have not been defined in one general, rigorous and acceptable way.
