A Mixed Finite Volume Element Method for Nonlinear Time Fractional Fourth-Order Reaction–Diffusion Models

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
In this paper, a linearized mixed finite volume element (MFVE) scheme is proposed to solve the nonlinear time fractional fourth-order reaction–diffusion models with the Riemann–Liouville time fractional derivative.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Triply Resonant Double Diffusive Convection in a Fluid Layer

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2017
We study the problem of double-diffusive convection in a horizontal plane fluid layer when there is a heat sink/source which is linear in the vertical coordinate which is in the opposite direction to gravity.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

An unconditionally positive and global stability preserving NSFD scheme for an epidemic model with vaccination

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2014
In this paper, a NonStandard Finite Difference (NSFD) scheme is constructed, which can be used to determine numerical solutions for an epidemic model with vaccination.

Advanced numerical methods for the simulation of alloy solidification with high Lewis number [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A fully-implicit numerical method based upon adaptively refined meshes for the thermal-solutal simulation of alloy solidification in 2D is presented. In addition we combine an unconditional stable second-order fully-implicit time discretisation scheme ...

An Unsymmetric FDTD Subgridding Algorithm With Unconditional Stability

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2018
To preserve accuracy in a grid with arbitrary subgrids, a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) subgridding scheme, in general, would result in an unsymmetric numerical system. Such a numerical system can have complex-valued eigenvalues, which will render a traditional explicit time marching of FDTD absolutely unstable.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

A Compact Difference Scheme for a Class of Variable Coefficient Quasilinear Parabolic Equations with Delay

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
A linearized compact difference scheme is provided for a class of variable coefficient parabolic systems with delay. The unique solvability, unconditional stability, and convergence of the difference scheme are proved, where the convergence order is four
