Fuzzy-Logic Based Navigation of Underwater Vehicles

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent and Robotic Systems, 2004
A fuzzy logic based general purpose modular control architecture is presented for underwater vehicle autonomous navigation, control and collision avoidance. Three levels of fuzzy controllers comprising the sensor fusion module, the collision avoidance module and the motion control module are derived and implemented.

Unsupervised Learning-Based Optical–Acoustic Fusion Interest Point Detector for AUV Near-Field Exploration of Hydrothermal Areas

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technique provides long-term near-seafloor navigation for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). However, the stability of the interest point detector (IPD) remains challenging in the seafloor environment.

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.
