Composite Accidental Axions [PDF]
We present several models where the QCD axion arises accidentally. Confining gauge theories can generate axion candidates whose properties are uniquely determined by the quantum numbers of the new fermions under the Standard Model.

A unique theory of all forces [PDF]
In discussing the construction of a consistent theory of quantum gravity unified with the gauge interactions we are naturally led to a string theory. We review its properties and the five consistent supersymmetric string theories in ten dimensions.

Cylindrical Wigner measures [PDF]
In this paper we study the semiclassical behavior of quantum states acting on the C*-algebra of canonical commutation relations, from a general perspective.

Reduction, Emergence and Renormalization [PDF]
In previous work, I described several examples combining reduction and emergence: where reduction is understood a la Ernest Nagel, and emergence is understood as behaviour or properties that are novel (by some salient standard).

Benchmarking one-shot distillation in general quantum resource theories
We study the one-shot distillation of general quantum resources, providing a unified quantitative description of the maximal fidelity achievable in this task, and revealing similarities shared by broad classes of resources.

The Origin of Structures in Generalized Gravity [PDF]
In a class of generalized gravity theories with general couplings between the scalar field and the scalar curvature in the Lagrangian, we can describe the quantum generation and the classical evolution of both the scalar and tensor structures in a simple

Universal Constants, Standard Models and Fundamental Metrology
Taking into account four universal constants, namely the Planck's constant $h$, the velocity of light $c$, the constant of gravitation $G$ and the Boltzmann's constant $k$ leads to structuring theoretical physics in terms of three theories each taking ...

Intermediate Scales in Supersymmetric GUTs: the Survival of the Fittest [PDF]
We show that intermediate scales in supersymmetric grand unified theories may exist naturally. Their origin is traced to the violation of the survival principle: in supersymmetry internal symmetries often forbid cubic couplings in the superpotential ...

The Yang-Baxter Equation, (Quantum) Computers and Unifying Theories [PDF]
Quantum mechanics has had an important influence on building computers;nowadays, quantum mechanics principles are used for the processing and transmission ofinformation. The Yang-Baxter equation is related to the universal gates from quantumcomputing and it realizes a unification of certain non-associative structures.
