Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Uniform distribution of Heegner points [PDF]
Let \(E\) be a modular elliptic curve over \(\mathbb Q\) of conductor \(N\), and let \(K\) be an imaginary quadratic field of discriminant \(D\) prime to \(N\). For any prime number \(p\) denote by \(K_\infty\) the unique \(\mathbb Z_p\)-extension of \(K\) such that \(\text{Gal}(K/\mathbb Q)\) acts non-trivially on \(\text{Gal}(K_\infty/K)\).

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Subdiagonal and Almost Uniform Distributions
The space \(W\) of almost uniform distributions contains those distributions whose functions \(F\) are almost surely (a.s.) the identity, i.e. for which \(F\circ F=F\). A distribution function \(F\) on \([0,1]\) is called subdiagonal if \(F([0,t])\leq t\) for all \(t\in [0,1]\). \textit{U. Hirth} and the author [J. Theor. Probab. 13, No.

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Distribution of the Prufer angle in p-Laplacian eigenvalue problems
The Prufer angle is an effective tool for studying Sturm-Liouville problems and p-Laplacian eigenvalue problems. In this article, we show that for the p-Laplacian eigenvalue problem, when x is irrational in (0,1), a sequence of modified Prufer angles
