Heaven and Homicide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
I address the questions of whether or not the very existence of heaven provides a motivation for killing. If universalism is true, then anyone killed will end up there, as will the killer.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

“How much satisfaction can I get from a court order for somebody to associate with me who does not wish me near them?” Accounting for Zora Neale Hurston’s Opposition to Desegragation as a Defiance of Universalism

open access: yesMiranda: Revue Pluridisciplinaire du Monde Anglophone
The political considerations that presided over both the fall into oblivion and the rehabilitation of Zora Neale Hurston’s literary and anthropological work are in fact different readings of her stance towards universalism.

Towards a Renewed Cosmopolitanism: Interculturality as the Ability to Experience Identity and Boundaries [PDF]

open access: yesRevista CIDOB d'Afers Internacionals, 2008
If we consider that most of the people in the world live in urban contexts, can identity and cultural and/or religious identities still possess (and in what way) a primordial position in sociopolitical structures? The theory put forward by the author is,

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

On Mexican Philosophy, For Example [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In the first part of my work I consider the false opposition between abstract universalism and cultural particularisms. I propose to dissolve it by means of a nomadic thought and take as an example of such thinking the work of Luis Villoro.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Quand l’état critique est salutaire. Du procès du « décolonialisme » à l’urgence du décentrement

open access: yesAstérion
For some years now, the French social sciences –sociology in particular– have been undergoing a period of great tension that was essentially characterised by attacks on the “ideological” –and therefore unscientific– character of the discipline and its ...
