Spatial correlation for unmanned surface vehicles

2005 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2005
The paper considers multi-sensor communications between low profile boats, such as unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), in a rough sea environment. We derive the expression of spatial correlation coefficients between two antennas, which is important in designing the configuration of multi-sensor systems.

Obstacle detection for Unmanned Surface Vehicle

2014 International Conference on Electrical Sciences and Technologies in Maghreb (CISTEM), 2014
The goal of this paper is to present a new monocular vision system for obstacle detection to be used by USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicle). This system is based on a monocular camera placed on a known height above the waterline. The technique used to calculate the distance between camera and obstacle depends on earth geometry and requires the prior horizon

Sequential Guidance of Multiple Unmanned Surface Vehicles

2020 39th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2020
This paper studies the integrated guidance and control (IGC) algorithm for multiple unmaned surface vehicles (USV). Considering the error of USV dynamic model and the external unknown disturbances, the mathematical model of IGC algorithm is established.

A jellyfish distribution management system using an unmanned aerial vehicle and unmanned surface vehicles

2017 IEEE Underwater Technology (UT), 2017
In this paper, we propose a jellyfish distribution management system using an UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) and USVs (unmanned surface vehicle). The UAV was designed to satisfy the requirements for flight in ocean environment. The target jellyfish, aurelia aurita, is recognized through a convolution neural network and its distribution is calculated.

Course Control of Unmanned Surface Vehicle

Solid State Phenomena, 2013
The paper considers the problems of controlling a course of an Unmanned Surface Vehicle USV. To select proper course controller, following three methods were tested: PID, slide and fuzzy control. Moreover, to counteract sea current two methods were presented and compared by means of numerical research.

Path-following control for Unmanned Surface Vehicles

2017 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2017
This paper introduces two well-accepted path-following control methods, namely Vector Field Method (VF) and Line-Of-Sight Method (LOS) for Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs). We provide a comprehensive study of each algorithm, which includes investigating their mathematical origins, performing simulation evaluations and carrying out real-world field ...

Nature and Classification of Unmanned Surface Vehicles

Vocational Education, 2023
The text describes and classifies unmanned surface vehicles (USVs). It also provides some scales for determining the autonomy of unmanned surface vehicles and raises questions about their place in the international system of laws and treaties.

Parallel Docking Problem for Unmanned Surface Vehicles

2018 15th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision (ICARCV), 2018
In this paper, parallel docking (parallel parking) problem for unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) is investigated. A mathematical model for an USV is constructed and a hierarchical control approach is implemented on this 6 degree-of-freedom model. At the control allocation level of the hierarchy, parameters of finite horizon model predictive controller ...

Unmanned surface vehicles for undergraduate engineering education

OCEANS 2008, 2008
For the past two years undergraduate engineering students from Olin College of Engineering have worked to develop unmanned surface vehicles as low cost educational platforms for scientific research. As an undergraduate project, the work on the USV involved the student team in a hands-on experience that included in-house design, fabrication, and field ...
