Applying Unmanned Ground Vehicle Technologies To Unmanned Surface Vehicles

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
Development of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) has been ongoing for decades. Much of the technology developed for UGVs can be applied directly to Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) with little or no modification. SPAWAR Systems Center San Diego (SSC San Diego) has successfully demonstrated this by transitioning technology (both hardware and software ...

A Control Strategy for Unmanned Surface Vehicles Flocking

International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2022
Decentralized control allows each unmanned surface vehicle (USV) in a flock to be autonomous to some extent. In this paper, the flocking algorithm put forth by Olfati-Saber was improved and applied in the multi-leader scenario based on its original flocking movement. Repulsion was also taken into account in the formation.

Surveillance of Uneven Surface with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Distributed Computing and Networking, 2020
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or Drones are of massive interest in monitoring large areas with uneven surfaces or managing large events such as protests while ensuring civil security and public safety. A common requirement for this needs the UAVs to cover each point within the area of interest.

Vehicle-following for unmanned surface vehicles

2012
This chapter presents experimental and theoretical issues related to the cooperative path-following of unmanned marine vehicles (UMVs) focusing on the application of vehicle-following and methodological aspects regarding the design of suitable metrics for performance evaluation of the proposed guidance techniques.

Parallel Docking Problem for Unmanned Surface Vehicles

2018 15th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision (ICARCV), 2018
In this paper, parallel docking (parallel parking) problem for unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) is investigated. A mathematical model for an USV is constructed and a hierarchical control approach is implemented on this 6 degree-of-freedom model. At the control allocation level of the hierarchy, parameters of finite horizon model predictive controller ...

Path-following control for Unmanned Surface Vehicles

2017 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2017
This paper introduces two well-accepted path-following control methods, namely Vector Field Method (VF) and Line-Of-Sight Method (LOS) for Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs). We provide a comprehensive study of each algorithm, which includes investigating their mathematical origins, performing simulation evaluations and carrying out real-world field ...

Research on Course Control of Unmanned Surface Vehicle

2020
The unmanned surface vehicle (USV) system has the characteristics of large inertia, long time delay and under-actuated, the traditional linear control method is not robust enough to achieve course control. Therefore, a course controller of USV has been proposed based upon the fuzzy control theory in this paper.
