Efficient Path Planning Algorithms for Unmanned Surface Vehicle

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2016
Abstract: The C-Enduro Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) is designed to operate at sea for extended periods of time (up to 3 months). To increase the endurance capability of the USV, an energy efficient path planning algorithm is developed. The proposed path planning algorithm integrates the Voronoi diagram, Visibility algorithm, Dijkstra search ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Water Monitoring System using Unmanned Surface Vehicle

open access: yesInternational Journal of Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering, 2020
In today’s world where climate activists focus more on large water bodies like seas and oceans, many smaller water bodies which lie neglected are also being contaminated. These smaller bodies also affect the groundwater, which goes unnoticed. The system checks parameters such as turbidity, temperature and pH levels. In addition to these monitoring, the

A Degradable Bioinspired Flier with Aerogel‐Based Colorimetric Sensors for Environmental Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biodegradable fliers are developed inspired by Tipuana tipu samaras, integrating cellulose nanocrystal aerogel (CNCa) sensors loaded with natural dyes for pH and ammonia detection. The lightweight, degradable fliers mimic natural morphology and aerodynamics, offering an eco‐friendly, scalable solution for in situ environmental monitoring after passive ...

Light‐Promoted Hydrazine Dehydrogenation over Ni/NH2‐MIL‐125: Unraveling Mechanisms for Efficient Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Highly dispersed and electron‐rich Ni nanoparticles (≈2.7 nm) supported on NH2‐MIL‐125 significantly promote the dehydrogenation of hydrous hydrazine under visible‐light irradiation, achieving a turnover frequency of 220.2 h−1 at 323 K, which is more than twice that in the dark (108.1 h−1) and outperforms most reported non‐precious metal catalysts ...

Feline‐Inspired Robot Enabled by Combustion‐Driven Actuators for Agile Motion and High‐Payload Obstacle Traversal

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by nature's competitive maneuvers, this study introduces a combustion‐driven soft actuator that powers a multi‐modal “Jump‐and‐Fly Catbot” (JFC). With millisecond response, high‐force output (over 70 times its weight) and precise control (error within 5%), the robot can jump, fly, hover, and escape from challenging environments, achieving ...

From Design to Prototype: High‐Sensitivity Tri‐Mode Operation Photodetectors Based on 1T‐2H Hybrid MoS2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a phase‐engineered MoS2 photodetector that dynamically switches among photocapacitive (PCC), photovoltaic (PV), and photoconductive (PC) modes. By transforming the traditionally parasitic capacitance into an active signal source, the device achieves self‐powered, high‐sensitivity detection with a fast response of 19.2 ms, and a ...
