Unmanned surface vehicles: An overview of developments and challenges

Annual Reviews in Control, 2016
Abstract With growing worldwide interest in commercial, scientific, and military issues associated with both oceans and shallow waters, there has been a corresponding growth in demand for the development of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) with advanced guidance, navigation and control (GNC) capabilities.

Applying unmanned ground vehicle technologies to unmanned surface vehicles

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
Development of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) has been ongoing for decades. Much of the technology developed for UGVs can be applied directly to Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) with little or no modification. SPAWAR Systems Center San Diego (SSC San Diego) has successfully demonstrated this by transitioning technology (both hardware and software ...

A Control Strategy for Unmanned Surface Vehicles Flocking

International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2022
Decentralized control allows each unmanned surface vehicle (USV) in a flock to be autonomous to some extent. In this paper, the flocking algorithm put forth by Olfati-Saber was improved and applied in the multi-leader scenario based on its original flocking movement. Repulsion was also taken into account in the formation.

Surveillance of Uneven Surface with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Distributed Computing and Networking, 2020
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or Drones are of massive interest in monitoring large areas with uneven surfaces or managing large events such as protests while ensuring civil security and public safety. A common requirement for this needs the UAVs to cover each point within the area of interest.
