The geometrical origin of the strain-twist coupling in double helices
A simple geometrical explanation for the counterintuitive phenomenon when twist leads to extension in double helices is presented. The coupling between strain and twist is investigated using a tubular description.

By simultaneously measuring DNA synthesis and dNTP hydrolysis, we show that T7 DNA polymerase and T7 gp4 helicase move in sync during leading-strand synthesis, taking one-nucleotide steps and hydrolyzing one dNTP per base-pair unwound/copied.

DEAD-box RNA-dependent ATPases are ubiquitous in all domains of life where they bind and remodel RNA and RNA-protein complexes. DEAD-box ATPases with helicase activity unwind RNA duplexes by local opening of helical regions without directional movement ...

Hexameric helicase G40P unwinds DNA in single base pair steps
Most replicative helicases are hexameric, ring-shaped motor proteins that translocate on and unwind DNA. Despite extensive biochemical and structural investigations, how their translocation activity is utilized chemo-mechanically in DNA unwinding is ...

Summary: Replication fork reversal is one of the major pathways for reactivating stalled DNA replication. Many enzymes with replication fork reversal activity have DNA-unwinding activity as well, but none of the fork reversal enzymes in the SWI/SNF ...

Takeover Vulnerability and the Discipline of ESG Overinvestment
ABSTRACT While takeovers serve a disciplinary role by replacing inefficient managers, the threat of takeovers may compel firms to divert attention from Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) efforts as a strategic response to external pressure, especially when such firms are already overinvesting in ESG.

From Text to Value: Measuring and Pricing Firm Climate Risk Exposure
ABSTRACT We examine how the prominence and tone of climate risk disclosures affect firm value and strategic climate positioning for large European nonfinancial companies. We developed a firm‐level climate risk exposure (CRE) index that assesses climate risks within corporate narratives across four EU categories: transition risk, physical risk ...

Structural and functional insights into the helicase protein E5 of Mpox virus
Mpox virus (MPXV) can cause mpox in humans. Due to its quick and wide spread in the past two years, mpox has turned into a significant public health concern.

5‐Substituted 2‐(naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐chromen‐4‐ones are reported as a novel class of highly potent and selective triplex DNA ligands. These ligands induce triplex formation at submicromolar concentrations and inhibit enzymatic activity via ligand‐mediated triplex formation.
