Bright spots for advancing ecological understanding and conservation decision‐making

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract A lot can be learned by studying bright spots—defined as unexpected positive outcomes. In fields like public health, education, and oncology, identifying factors behind bright spots reveals previously unknown drivers of success that can be replicated elsewhere.

Effects of Genetic Diversity on Health Status and Parasitological Traits in a Wild Fish Population Inhabiting a Coastal Lagoon

open access: yesAnimals
Host genetic variability is relevant to understanding how parasites modulate natural selection in wild fish populations. Coastal lagoons are transitional ecosystems where knowledge lacks on relationships between genotypic diversity with parasitism.

Multitarget Anticancer Agents Based on Histone Deacetylase and Protein Kinase CK2 inhibitors

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The design of multitarget drugs (MTDs) has become an innovative approach for the search of effective treatments in complex diseases such as cancer. In this work, we communicate our efforts in the design of multi-targeting histone deacetylase (HDAC) and ...

Computational Insights into the Structural Basis for Reduced Hepatotoxicity of Novel Nonopioid Analgesics

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 22, November 18, 2025.
Docking and molecular dynamics simulations within CYP2E1 clarify the structural basis for the reduced hepatotoxicity of novel non‐opioid analgesics developed as safer alternatives to acetaminophen. The results reveal that hydrophobicity and substituent size critically influence binding conformations, thereby modulating toxicity.

Biomass production of tropical trees across space and time: The shifting roles of diameter growth and wood density

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 11, Page 3141-3158, November 2025.
Diameter growth is an important and good indicator of forest carbon production. However, size‐related changes in wood density, which are usually neglected, are critical for accurate short‐ and long‐term carbon assessments, especially in tropical humid sites.
