A Synergistic Inhibitor Development Strategy Against Human UDP‐Galactose‐4‐Epimerase

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 22, 25 May 2026.
The epimerase GalE is crucial for the biosynthesis of cancer‐relevant O‐GalNAc glycans. Here, we employ orthogonal, structurally enabled small molecule fragment screens to yield both covalent and non‐covalent inhibitors against GalE within no more than 22 elaborated compounds.

Incorporation of 14C-glucose into glycogen by whole homogenate of liver [PDF]

open access: yes, 1962
IT has been reported that in liver slices glucose is a better precursor of glycogen than glucose 6-phosphate and glucose 1-phosphate1,2. To explain these results and others in the literature, a new pathway from glucose to glycogen was postulated that ...

Structural basis of collagen glucosyltransferase function and its serendipitous role in kojibiose synthesis

open access: yesNature Communications
Collagen glucosyltransferases catalyze collagen glucosylation critical for biology and diseases, yet their structural regulation remains unclear. Here, we report crystal structures of a mimiviral collagen glucosyltransferase in its apo form and in ...

CRISPR/Cas9-Based Functional Characterization of SfUGT50A15 Reveals Its Roles in the Resistance of Spodoptera frugiperda to Chlorantraniliprole, Emamectin Benzoate, and Benzoxazinoids

open access: yesInsects
UDP-glycosyltransferases (UGTs) are a diverse superfamily of enzymes. Insects utilize uridine diphosphate-glucose (UDP-glucose) as a glycosyl donor for glycosylation in vivo, involved in the glycosylation of lipophilic endosymbionts and xenobiotics ...

Enhancing Glycosylation of Flavonoids by Engineering the Uridine Diphosphate Glucose Supply in Escherichia coli

open access: yes
Glycosylation can enhance the solubility and stability of flavonoids. The main limitation of the glycosylation process is low intracellular uridine diphosphate glucose (UDPG) availability.

Targeted LC-MS profiling reveals dysregulated glycolytic flux and TCA cycle stalling in POAG plasma

open access: yesScientific Reports
Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness. Primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) is the most common form globally and has been linked to mitochondrial dysfunction and energy deficiency.

Nucleotides. Part XV. a synthesis of uridine-5′ pyrophosphate, a breakdown product of the coenzyme uridine-diphosphate-glucose

open access: yes, 1952
Uridine.5’ pyrophosphate has been synthesized by condensing 2’:3’-iso-propylidene 5’-iodo-5’-deoxyuridine with silver tribenzyl pyrophosphate and subsequently removing the protecting groups. The product, isolated as its barium salt, is identical with the

Effects of galU Mutation on Pseudomonas syringae–Plant Interactions

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2010
Bacterial galU coding for a uridine diphosphate-glucose pyrophosphorylase plays an important role in carbohydrates biosynthesis, including synthesis of lipopolysaccharides (LPS), membrane-derived oligosaccharides, and capsular polysaccharides.

Catalytic Promiscuity of O‑GlcNAc Transferase Enables Unexpected Metabolic Engineering of Cytoplasmic Proteins with 2‑Azido-2-deoxy-glucose

open access: yes, 2016
O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) catalyzes the installation of N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) O-linked to nucleocytoplasmic proteins (O-GlcNAc) within multicellular eukaryotes.
