Concentration of uridine diphosphate sugars in various tissues of vertebrates

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1975
Abstract 1. 1. UDP-glucose, UDP-N-acetylglucosamine and UDP-glucuronic acid concentrations in various tissues of vertebrates were measured; changes in UDP-sugar quantity during the prenatal and postnatal development of pigs were also studied. 2. 2.

HPLC analysis of uridine diphosphate sugars: decreased concentrations of uridine diphosphate galactose in erythrocytes and cultured skin fibroblasts from classical galactosemia patients

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1995
Abstract A high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method has been developed for the measurement of uridine diphosphate galactose (UDPGal) and uridine diphosphate glucose (UDPGlc) in erythrocytes and cultured skin fibroblasts of normal controls and galactosemia patients.

Synthetic analogues of uridine diphosphate glucose: Biochemical and chemical studies The secondary stucture of nucleoside diphosphate sugars

Biochimica Et Biophysica Acta: BBA Enzymology and Biological Oxidation, 1966
Abstract The reactivity of eight synthetic analogues of uridine diphosphate glucose with a modified uracyl nucleus in four enzymic systems of uridine diphosphate glucose metabolism has been investigated. For the activity of all of the enzymes studied, the presence of an acylamido grouping −C2(X)N3HC4(X)− (where X = O or S ), appeared necessary.

Formation of uridine diphosphate sugars from 32p-labeled hexose phosphates in human red blood cells

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1969
Abstract The formation of uridine diphosphate galactose (UDPGal) and uridine diphosphate glucose (UDPG) in red blood cells was studied with the aid of 32 P-labeled galactose-1-phosphate and glucose-1-phosphate. UTP: α- d -glucose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase (EC 2.7.7.9) was separated from UDPG: α- d -galactose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase ...

The effects of UDP-sugars, UDP and Mg2+on uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase activity in human liver microsomes

open access: yesXenobiotica, 2017
1. The UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) enzymes are important in the metabolism, elimination and detoxification of many xenobiotics and endogenous compounds. As extrapolation of in vitro kinetics of drug metabolizing enzymes to predict in vivo clearance rates becomes more sophisticated, it is important to ensure proper optimization of enzyme assays ...

Borate-aided anion exchange high-performance liquid chromatography of uridine diphosphate-sugars in brain, heart, adipose and liver tissues

Journal of Chromatography A, 2014
In this paper we describe a method optimized for the purification of uridine diphosphate (UDP)-sugars from liver, adipose tissue, brain, and heart, with highly reproducible up to 85% recoveries. Rapid tissue homogenization in cold ethanol, lipid removal by butanol extraction, and purification with a graphitized carbon column resulted in isolation of ...

Measurement of the relative rates of synthesis of uridine diphosphate sugars in some tissues of vertebrates by using [I-14C]glucose

International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 1972
Abstract 1. 1. The isolation of UDP-glucose, UDP-glucuronic acid, and UDP- N -acetylglucosamine by chromatography on paper is described and the rates of their synthesis in some tissues of the rat, guinea-pig, chicken, and frog were determined after [ i - 14 C] glucose administration. 2. 2. About a fivefold higher rate of UDP-glucose synthesis
