Cell-Free Multi-Enzyme Synthesis and Purification of Uridine Diphosphate Galactose. [PDF]

open access: yesChembiochem, 2022
AbstractHigh costs and low availability of UDP‐galactose hampers the enzymatic synthesis of valuable oligosaccharides such as human milk oligosaccharides. Here, we report the development of a platform for the scalable, biocatalytic synthesis and purification of UDP‐galactose.

Generalised uridine diphosphate galactose-4-epimerase deficiency [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Disease in Childhood, 1999
The generalised form of epimerase deficiency galactosaemia has been described in only two children from unrelated families. Their progress is reported and three other affected children from these families are described. The initial presentation was similar to classic galactosaemia.

The enzymatic transformation of uridine diphosphate glucose into a galactose derivative [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1951
Abstract Treatment of uridine diphosphate glucose (UDPG) with an enzyme of S. fragilis was found to produce about 25% of a galactose-containing compound. This compound is precipitated with mercuric ions like UDPG, and its migration in chromatography in acid-ethanol is similar.

Uridine Diphosphate Glucose: the Coenzyme of the Galactose–Glucose Phosphate Isomerization [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1950
A PREVIOUS report1 dealt with the enzymatic conversion of galactose-1-phosphate into glucose-1-phosphate and mentioned that a thermostable factor is necessary for the reaction. This factor has now been obtained practically pure, and for reasons given below will be referred to as uridine diphosphate glucose.

GALE variants associated with syndromic manifestations, macrothrombocytopenia, bleeding, and platelet dysfunction

open access: yesPlatelets, 2023
GALE gene encodes the uridine diphosphate [UDP]-galactose-4-epimerase, which catalyzes the bidirectional interconversion of UDP-glucose to UDP-galactose, and UDP-N-acetyl-glucosamine to UDP-N-acetyl-galactosamine.

Uridine diphosphate-glucose 4-epimerase encoding gene galE affects the pathogenicity and carbon metabolism of Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2023
In order to clarify the pathogenic function of uridine diphosphate (UDP)-glucose 4-epimerase encoding gene galE on Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum, the association between galE and the pathogenic-related phenotypes, and the gene deletion effect on ...

Carbon source–dependent capsule thickness regulation in Streptococcus pneumoniae

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2023
BackgroundThe polysaccharide capsule of Streptococcus pneumoniae plays a major role in virulence, adherence to epithelial cells, and overall survival of the bacterium in the human host.

Identification of a carbohydrate recognition motif of purinergic receptors

open access: yeseLife, 2023
As a major class of biomolecules, carbohydrates play indispensable roles in various biological processes. However, it remains largely unknown how carbohydrates directly modulate important drug targets, such as G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs).

SLC35A2-CDG: Novel variant and review

open access: yesMolecular Genetics and Metabolism Reports, 2021
SLC35A2 encodes the X-linked transporter that carries uridine diphosphate (UDP)-galactose from the cytosol to the lumen of the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic reticulum.

Uridine Diphosphate-4-Keto-Glucose, an Intermediate in the Uridine Diphosphate-Galactose-4-Epimerase Reaction [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1971
When UDP-galactose 4-epimerase (EC 5.1.3.2) from Escherichia coli is incubated with UDP-galactose, then reduced with NaB 3 H 4 , label is found in UDP-glucose and UDP-galactose.
