Effects of uridine triphosphate on skinned skeletal muscle fibers of the rat
Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1995Chemically skinned muscle fibers from rat extensor digitorum longus muscle were used to study the effects of uridine triphosphate (UTP) on Ca2+uptake and release by the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) and on Ca2+-activated tensions. Total replacement (2.5 mM) of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) with UTP (i) increased submaximal Ca2+-induced tension (pCa 6.2–5 ...

The purpose of the present investigation was to determine whether a single bolus intravenous injection (2000 mg/kg) of uridine diphosphoglucose (UDPG) could affect levels of PRPP in a transplanted mammary adenocarcinoma and in liver of CD8FI mice. Six hours following a single intravenous injection of UDPG, 2000 mg/kg, tumor PRPP was lowered to 80 pmol ...

Consequences of uridine triphosphate deficiency in liver and hepatoma cells [PDF]
A sequence of events caused by an acute injury leading to cellular death and subsequently to necrosis can be analysed best if the following prerequisites are given: 1. The injurious agent or the toxin under study causes a selective primary lesion rather than a variety of initial effects. 2.

Uridine triphosphate and RNA synthesis during diabetes-induced renal growth
American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1980UTP, CTP, and RNA synthesis were studied in the renal cortex of diabetic and control rats in vivo. The incorporation of UTP into RNA (nmol/h DNA) was used as estimate of RNA synthesis rate. Two to three days after streptozotocin injection, UTP and CTP ppol size and orotate incorporation into UTP and RNA were greater in diabetic animals than in controls.

The influence of diabetes and starvation on uracil nucleotide metabolism in muscle was studied. It was found that the uridine triphosphate (UTP) content of heart and diaphragm muscle was decreased in fasted and streptozotocin-diabetic rats and that insulin treatment of diabetic animals restored the UTP concentration to normal levels. The ATP content of

5′-Mercuri-uridine triphosphate as a substrate for transcription
Analytical Biochemistry, 1982Abstract The use of mercurated nucleotides permitting a specific isolation of newly synthesized RNA has proven useful in the study of in vitro transcription. However, there has been little direct investigation of their effect on the polymerization reaction.
