Clinical Implementation and Perioperative Outcomes of Robot‐Assisted Pelvic Exenteration for Primary Rectal Cancer: A Multicenter Japanese Experience

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Robot‐assisted pelvic exenteration (RPE) was performed with acceptable perioperative outcomes in selected patients with primary rectal cancer. It may serve as a complementary approach at institutions with sufficient experience in PE, whereas open surgery remains essential for extensive or technically demanding disease.

Hydroxynonenal in Obstructed Urinary Bladder Disease

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2007
Elevated levels of oxidized proteins have been observed in urinary bladder tissues subjected to partial outlet obstruction. 4‐Hydroxynonenal (4‐HNE), a toxic end‐product of lipid peroxidation, has been implicated in oxidative modification of proteins and enzymes.

Rare and Aggressive Disease: Urinary Bladder Leiomyosarcoma

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Medicine
Background: Bladder leiomyosarcoma is an extremely rare non-urothelial malignancy, accounting for less than 0.1% of all bladder tumors. It presents significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to its aggressive nature and the absence of standardized treatment protocols. Case presentation: We report the case of a 61-year-old woman who presented

ADNP‐Related Helsmoortel–Van der Aa Syndrome: A Review of the Literature and Clinical Recommendations for Assessment and Monitoring

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT ADNP‐related Helsmoortel–Van der Aa syndrome (ADNP‐related HVDAS) is a single gene form of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) caused by pathogenic sequence variants in the activity‐dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) gene. In addition to ASD, ADNP‐related HVDAS is associated with a wide range of cognitive, behavioral, and physical health ...

Reframing the Gut–Brain Axis: The Gut Wall as a Neural Immune Interface in Multiple Sclerosis and Autoimmune Neurological Diseases

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Gut wall physiology in multiple sclerosis (MS) and autoimmune neurologic diseases remains underexplored but may span gut barrier dysfunction, enteric glial targeting, mucosal immune dysregulation, and autoimmune targets within the enteric nervous system (ENS).
