Urine Microscopic Image Dataset [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Urinalysis is a standard diagnostic test to detect urinary system related problems. The automation of urinalysis will reduce the overall diagnostic time. Recent studies used urine microscopic datasets for designing deep learning based algorithms to classify and detect urine cells. But these datasets are not publicly available for further research.

D-mannose: a promising support for acute urinary tract infections in women. A pilot study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Urinary tract infections still represent a significant bother for women and result in high costs to the health system. D-mannose is a simple sugar; it seems able to hinder bacteria adhesion to the urothelium.

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

No ureteral catheter mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (NUC-mPCNL) achieves enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS)

open access: yesScientific Reports
Conventional mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (mPCNL) typically necessitates the pre-operative placement of ureteral catheters. With the development of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), we introduce a novel approach: no ureteral catheter mini ...

Transfixed jejunum lesion due to percutaneous nephrolithotomy

open access: yesUrology Case Reports, 2021
Percutaneous access for treatment of renal pathologies is a minimally invasive modality, although it can present complications. Small bowel lesions are rare but correct diagnosis and management are essential to prevent major complications.

Transcript Engineered Extracellular Vesicles Alleviate Alloreactive Dynamics in Renal Transplantation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
Direct contact of membrane molecules and cytokine interactions orchestrate immune homeostasis. However, overcoming the threshold of distance and velocity barriers, and achieving adhesion mediated immune interaction remain difficult. Here, inspired by the

Lens free holographic imaging for urinary tract infection screening [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common condition that can lead to serious complications including kidney injury, altered mental status, sepsis, and death. Laboratory tests such as urinalysis and urine culture are the mainstays of UTI diagnosis, whereby a urine specimen is collected and processed to reveal its cellular and chemical composition ...

Decreasing resistance in the maternal uterine and peripheral arterial system is apparently unrelated to plasma and urinary levels of nitrite/nitrate and cyclic-guanosinmonophosohate during the course of normal pregnancies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Aims: The aim of the presented study was to clarify the relationship between the pulsatility index of the uterine arteries and the maternal cubital artery and peripheral concentrations of the metabolites of nitric oxide (NO) and its second messenger ...
