Selection for slow rusting in faba bean (Vicia faba L.) to Uromyces viciae-fabae

Crop Protection, 1986
Abstract Two hundred and fifty-two open-pollinated faba bean accessions from diverse origins were evaluated for their ability to retard the development of the rust, Uromyces viciae-fabae (Pers.) Schroet. in small adjacent plots during the period 1978–1981.

Effect of rust (Uromyces viciae‐fabae) on yield components of faba bean

Plant Pathology, 1995
Epidemics of faba bean rust (Uromyces viciae‐fabae) differing in duration and final severity were induced by a point inoculation. Relationships between disease severity observed on three canopy layers (top, middle and bottom) at different assessment dates and yield components (grain weight ...

Pathogenic Variability inUromyces viciae-fabae

Plant Disease, 1980
SINGH, S. J., and S. S. SOKHI. 1980. Pathogenic variability in Uromyces viciae-fabae. Plant Disease 64:671-672. Seven isolates of Uromyces viciae-fabae causing rust of pea were differentiated into six pathotypes, based on differential reactions of 15 pea, sweet pea, and lentil hosts.

Characterization of new sources of resistance to Uromyces viciae‐fabae in a germplasm collection of Vicia faba

Plant Pathology, 2000
A collection of 648 accessions of Vicia faba was screened for resistance to faba bean rust ( Uromyces viciae‐fabae ). Two distinct types of resistance were identified, both resulting in reduced disease severity (DS) and area under the disease progress ...

Microflora associated with urediniospores of Uromyces viciae-fabae and effects on urediniospore germination

Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1984
The associated microflora of urediniospores of Uromyces viciae-fabae on broad bean differed quantitatively rather than qualitatively from that of broad bean ( Vicia faba L.) leaves alone. Gram-negative bacteria predominated with urediniospores whilst Cryptococcus yeasts were the most abundant micro-organisms on leaves.

Stimulation of Uromyces viciae-fabae in vitro and in vivo by the phylloplane yeast Cryptococcus

Physiological Plant Pathology, 1984
Abstract Germination, growth of germ tubes and infection by uredospores of Uromyces viciae-fabae (Pers.) Schroet. were increased by the addition of yeast cells of the genus Cryptococcus. Inoculation of broad bean ( Vicia faba L.) leaves with Cryptococcus cells 24 or more hours prior to addition of uredospores caused a greater stimulation of ...

Inheritance of field resistance to rust (Uromyces viciae fabae) in lentil

JOURNAL OF MYCOLOGY AND PLANT PATHOLOGY
Inheritance of field resistance to rust (Uromyces vicia fabae) was studied in eight lentil genotypes viz., Markanday (EC 1), Vipasha (HPL5), Precoz, DPL 61, L 7107, IPL 131, IPL 138, and L 101. The F s from 1 the crosses of the test genotypes with highly susceptible cultivar L 830 were resistant, indicating that resistance was controlled by dominant ...

The orientation of urediniospores of Uromyces viciae-fabae during fall and after landing

Mycological Research, 1998
The orientation of individual urediniospores and spore clusters of Uromyces viciae-fabae , during fall and after landing in still air, was recorded using high-speed video microscopy. Individual spores and aggregates fell in a variety of orientations. On landing spore clusters attached to the substratum without rebounding or fragmenting and typically ...
