TEMPO (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl)-mediated oxidation of methyl α- d -mannopyranoside with sodium hypochlorite gave sodium (methyl α- d -mannopyranosid)uronate, which was obtained as a crystalline monohydrate in ~70% yield without chromatography.

Abstract Isolation and structure elucidation of a new moenomycin antibiotic (C1, 1e) that lacks the branching methyl group in the 4-position of unit F are reported. The smallest antibiotically active degradation product of 1e is the trisaccharide derivative 3.

The Blumenkrantz-Asboe-Hansen assay is the most widely used colorimetric method for quantifying uronic acids (UAs), key components of pectins, and plant cell wall polysaccharides. However, the molecular origin of the assay's pink coloration remained unresolved.

Studies on uronic acid materials. Part XXI. Some structural features of Acacia arabica gum
Journal of the Chemical Society C: Organic, 1967The polysaccharide exuded by Acacia arabica trees has a high positive specific rotation and contains residues of D-galactose, L-arabinose, L-rhamnose, D-glucuronic acid, and 4-O-methyl-D-glucuronic acid. Linkage analysis affords 3-O-β-L-arabinopyranosyl-L-arabinose and 3-O-β-L-arabinofuranosyl-L-arabinose.

ABSTRACTThe chemical structure of amino adhesives produced by the strongly acid process was investigated by 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy. This technique allowed the identification of functional groups and its quantitative determination. Concentration of cyclic polymeric structures (urons) was shown to be related with adhesive performance

Acacia senegal gum is subjected to seven successive Smith degradations. The O-methyl derivatives of each of the polysaccharides obtained from the first five degradations are analysed, after methanolysis, by gas–liquid partition chromatography. After the fifth degradation, the O-methyl sugars characterised from the methylated polysaccharide are 2,3,4,6 ...

Single-crystal x-ray diffraction data for methyl (methyl 3-azido-2,3-dideoxy-β-L-lyxo- and β-D-arabino-hexopyranosid)uronates are presented. Three independent molecules in the asymmetric part of the unit cell of the β-D-arabino stereoisomer were found. These differ slightly in the geometry of the groups bound to the pyranose rings.

Dietary polysaccharides can sequester bile acids, thereby supporting cholesterol regulation and cardiovascular health, yet the structural determinants of this interaction remain insufficiently defined. In this study, kiwifruit polysaccharides (KFP) were extracted and systematically subjected to simulated gastrointestinal digestion, colonic fermentation,
