Surveying a Floating Iceberg With the USV SEADRAGON [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
The calving, drifting, and melting of icebergs has local, regional, and global implications. Besides the impacts to local ecosystems due to changes in seawater salinity and temperature, the freshwater influx and transport can have significant regional effects related to the ocean circulation.

Unsupervised underwater shipwreck detection in side-scan sonar images based on domain-adaptive techniques

open access: yesScientific Reports
Underwater object detection based on side-scan sonar (SSS) suffers from a lack of finely annotated data. This study aims to avoid the laborious task of annotation by achieving unsupervised underwater object detection through domain-adaptive object ...

On the importance of including both sexes in animal studies – insights from home‐cage monitoring

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A review of behavioural studies using home‐cage monitoring (HCM) systems revealed that over 61% of studies used only male subjects, with only 24% including both sexes, despite evidence of substantial behavioural differences between male and female animals. This bias could influence the outcomes of biomedical research.

Diverse Feature-Level Guidance Adjustments for Unsupervised Domain Adaptative Object Detection

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Unsupervised Domain Adaptative Object Detection (UDAOD) aims to alleviate the gap between the source domain and the target domain. Previous methods sought to plainly align global and local features across domains but adapted numerous pooled features and ...

Consuming heat‐inactivated Lactiplantibacillus pentosus ONRICb0240‐containing postbiotics reduces gingival inflammation: A double‐blind randomized clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Periodontal disease affects people globally, requiring approaches to halt progression at the gingivitis stage. Researchers have investigated live probiotics; we studied the effect of a heat‐inactivated preparation (postbiotic) of Lactiplantibacillus pentosus ONRICb0240 on gingival inflammation.

Analysis of the Dynamical Environment characterising the USV FTB_1 Vehicle performing the first DTFT Mission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The successfully realisation of a microgravity experiment, whatever its objective could be, necessarily requires a dynamical characterisation of the environment in which it takes place as complete and precise as possible.
