Computational Studies of UV-B Induced Signalling Pathways in Plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This thesis presents theoretical studies of UV-B induced signaling pathways in plants using molecular dynamic methods combined with (TD)-DFT calculations. Ultraviolet B (UV-B) radiation is a component of sunlight covering wavelengths 280-300nm.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Sensitivity of yellow passion fruit to ultraviolet-B radiation

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2012
The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of UV-B radiation on the vegetative growth and on the gas exchange characteristics of passion fruit plants (Passiflora edulis) grown in greenhouse. The average unweighted UV-B radiation near the apex

Direct and indirect effects of UV-B exposure on litter decomposition: a meta-analysis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Ultraviolet-B (UV-B) exposure in the course of litter decomposition may have a direct effect on decomposition rates via changing states of photodegradation or decomposer constitution in litter while UV-B exposure during growth periods may alter chemical ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION STRUCTURE OF RESVERATROL AND THEIR ACTIVITY TEST AS ANTIOXIDANT AND UV-B PROTECTION FROM STEM BARK OF MELINJO (GNETUM GNEMON) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Resveratrol (1) had been isolated from the stem bark of melinjo (Gnetum gnemon). The structure of this compound were elucidated based on physical and spectroscopic data (UV, IR, 1H and 13C NMR).

A birch ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL 5 gene enhances UV-B and drought tolerance

open access: yesForestry Research
UV-B radiation and drought majorly restrict plant growth, particularly in summer. ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL 5 (HY5), a bZIP transcription factor (TF), has a beneficial impact on photomorphogenesis.

Assessing precipitation, evapotranspiration, and NDVI as controls of U.S. Great Plains plant production

open access: yesEcosphere, 2019
Productivity throughout the North American Great Plains grasslands is generally considered to be water limited, with the strength of this limitation increasing as precipitation decreases.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Revisiting the role of phenylpropanoids in plant defense against UV-B stress

open access: yesPlant Stress, 2023
Ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation from the past few decades has been widely studied due to the substantial depletion of the stratospheric ozone (O3) layer, causing morphological, physiological, cytological, and biochemical alterations in plants. As a potent
