UV/Vis/NIR Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yes, 2005
Voltammetric techniques used in electrochemistry monitor the flow of current as a function of potential, time, and mass transport. A huge variety of different experiments are possible, giving information about reaction energies, reaction intermediates, and the kinetics of a process [1–4].

Classification of red wines from controlled designation of origin by ultraviolet-visible and near-infrared spectral analysis [PDF]

open access: yesCiência e Técnica Vitivinícola, 2014
Spectroscopy has become one of the most attractive and commonly used methods of analysis in many agricultural products. Chemometrics combined with ultraviolet (UV), visible (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) spectral analysis were evaluated to classify wines ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Photocatalytic and Antimicrobial Properties of Ag2O/TiO2 Heterojunction

open access: yesChemEngineering, 2019
Ag2O/TiO2 heterojunctions were prepared by a simple method, i.e., the grinding of argentous oxide with six different titania photocatalysts. The physicochemical properties of the obtained photocatalysts were characterized by diffuse-reflectance ...

Novel Technologies for Preserving Ricotta Cheese: Effects of Ultraviolet and Near-Ultraviolet–Visible Light

open access: yesFoods, 2020
Ricotta cheese is a potential growth medium for a wide range of microorganisms. The aim of the current study was to investigate the efficacy of ultraviolet (UV-C) and near-ultraviolet–visible light (NUV–vis) in microbial decontamination of ricotta ...

The MPI-Mainz UV/VIS Spectral Atlas of Gaseous Molecules of Atmospheric Interest [PDF]

open access: yesEarth System Science Data, 2013
We present the MPI-Mainz UV/VIS Spectral Atlas of Gaseous Molecules, which is a large collection of absorption cross sections and quantum yields in the ultraviolet and visible (UV/VIS) wavelength region for gaseous molecules and radicals primarily ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
