ABSTRACT Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory dermatitis underpinned by Type 2 inflammation driven by cytokines such as IL‐4 and IL‐13. It is characterized by skin barrier dysfunction, Th2 immune deviation, and pruritus. While biologics and oral Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors demonstrate high therapeutic efficacy by targeting cytokines that ...

The Inhomogeneous Ionizing Background Following Reionization
We study the spatial fluctuations in the hydrogen ionizing background in the epoch following reionization (z ~ 5--6). The rapid decrease with redshift in the photon mean free path (m.f.p.), combined with the clustering of increasingly rare ionizing ...

Involvement of NADPH oxidase 1 in UVB-induced cell signaling and cytotoxicity in human keratinocytes
Members of NADPH oxidase (Nox) enzyme family are important sources of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and are known to be involved in several physiological functions in response to various stimuli including UV irradiation.

Shrubs inhibit plant diseases by intercepting light in alpine meadows
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Climate change is disproportionately impacting mountain ecosystems, leading to widespread shrub expansion into alpine meadows. Shrub encroachment alters the albedo, carbon budget and warming rate in alpine grasslands, but it remains challenging to predict how shrub ...

The Opacity of the Intergalactic Medium Measured Along Quasar Sightlines at $z\sim 6$
We publicly release a new sample of $34$ medium resolution quasar spectra at $5.77\leq z_{\rm em}\leq6.54$ observed with the Echellette Spectrograph and Imager (ESI) on the Keck telescope.

In this study, we tested whether white and yellow morphs of the common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis) adopt alternative strategies shaped by the immuno‐competence handicap hypotheses (ICHH). We found that testosterone‐induced immune suppression was stronger in white males, while aggression decreased in both morphs.
