Narrowband UVB-induced lichen planus pemphigoides [PDF]

open access: yesDermatology Reports, 2011
Lichen planus pemphigoides (LPP) is an autoimmune disease characterised by evolution of subepidermal blisters on normal and lichen planus affected skin. We describe a case of LPP in a 54-year-old Chinese woman. The patient presented with psoriasiform plaques and was diagnosed with guttate psoriasis.

High‐Performance UV Photodetectors Based on ZnO Hierarchical Nanostructures Grown on Aerosol‐Printed 3D Ag Mesh

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
First integration of ZnO nanorods with aerosol‐printed 3D Ag meshes for UV photodetector. 3D Ag/ZnO enhances light absorption and charge separation by providing a large active surface area for efficient charge generation and a strong UV response.

Nanostructured lipid carriers and natural deep eutectic solvents: a highly advantageous combination for the encapsulation of curcumin

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Curcumin is a naturally derived polyphenol known for its potent biological properties. Its therapeutic potential, however, is hindered by low bioavailability. Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) have emerged as advanced delivery systems to overcome such limitations. Natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) have garnered attention as

Laminarin Attenuates Ultraviolet-Induced Skin Damage by Reducing Superoxide Anion Levels and Increasing Endogenous Antioxidants in the Dorsal Skin of Mice

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2020
A number of studies have demonstrated that marine carbohydrates display anti-oxidant, anti-melanogenic, and anti-aging activities in the skin. Laminarin (LA), a low-molecular-weight polysaccharide, is found in brown algae.

Linalool prevents oxidative stress activated protein kinases in single UVB-exposed human skin cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Ultraviolet-B radiation (285-320 nm) elicits a number of cellular signaling elements. We investigated the preventive effect of linalool, a natural monoterpene, against UVB-induced oxidative imbalance, activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)

Plant canopy shape and the influences on UV exposures to the canopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The solar spectra at selected sites over hemispherical, conical and pinnacle plant canopy models has been evaluated with a dosimetric technique. The irradiance at the sites varies by up to a factor of 0.31 compared to the irradiance on a horizontal plane.

Decadal Changes of UV Aerosol Optical Depth in Hobart, Australia Measured With a Brewer MKIII: Relationship to Bushfire Events and Climate Indices

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Monthly average aerosol optical depth at 320 nm obtained with a Brewer MKIII spectrophotometer for Hobart, Australia (42.8806° S, 147.3250° E) over a 21‐year period. There is a linear trend of 15.4% per decade. There are 9 months when the average aerosol optical depth exceeds twice the monthly standard deviation.

The Radiative Feedback of the First Cosmological Objects

open access: yes, 1999
In hierarchical models of structure formation, an early cosmic UV background (UVB) is produced by the small (T_vir < 10^4 K) halos that collapse before reionization. The UVB at energies below 13.6eV suppresses the formation of stars or black holes inside

Assessing the Effect of Adalimumab in Granuloma Annulare: A Case Series and Literature Review

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Granuloma annulare (GA) is a benign granulomatous skin disorder for which standardized treatment guidelines are lacking due to limited evidence. Adalimumab, a TNF‐α inhibitor, shows promise as a therapeutic option due to its potential to disrupt GA granulomas.
