Between Gifts and Commodities: Commercial Enterprise and the Trader's Dilemma on Wallis ('Uvea) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Recently, the model of the trader’s dilemma was developed as an analytical perspective and applied to Southeast Asia. This article seeks to apply the model in Western Polynesia, where many islanders, after earning wages in Australia, New Zealand, the ...

Photorefractive keratectomy in mild to moderate keratoconus: Outcomes in over 40-year-old patients

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2015
Background: Keratoconus is a contraindication for photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). In the recent decade, some efforts have been made to perform PRK in patients with keratoconus whose corneas are stable naturally or by doing corneal collagen ...

Efficacy and Safety of Co‐Ablation Combined With Aintilimab for Metastatic Melanoma to the Liver (CryoCheck‐001): A Phase II Trial

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Liver metastasis is a key driver of immune tolerance in patients with melanoma receiving immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy. This single‐arm phase II trial prospectively investigated the efficacy and safety of co‐ablation combined with sintilimab for liver metastatic melanoma.

Functional validation of driver mutation‐specific uveal melanoma biomarkers: role of COL9A3 in cancer cell plasticity

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 270, Issue 2, Page 226-240, October 2026.
Abstract Uveal melanoma (UM) is a deadly ocular malignancy with well‐described genetic alterations that predict disease outcome. However, our current understanding of the biological underpinnings of high‐risk uveal melanoma progression remains relatively limited. Using RNA expression profiles from 250 patients with UM, we identified 12 novel biomarkers

Acute and sudden death secondary to cardiac tamponade during anaesthetic recovery in a 21‐year‐old draught mule

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 38, Issue 10, Page e686-e689, October 2026.
Summary This case report is of educational value and contributes to the literature because it describes a unique death after anaesthesia due to cardiac tamponade from a rare cardiac neoplasm. In trying to diagnose the origin of chronic sinusitis, a geriatric mule mare was anaesthetised and during recovery, died acutely.

Fatty Acid‐Binding Protein 5 Potentially Regulates the Proliferation and Metastasis of Uveal Melanoma Cells Through the PI3K/AKT/mTOR Signaling Pathway

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
Single‐cell and bulk sequencing reveal SPON2, MATK, and FABP5 as prognostic indicators in uveal melanoma. We demonstrated that FABP5 promotes malignancy via the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, as genetic knockdown impairs tumor growth and is rescued by 740Y‐P pharmacological pathway activation. These findings highlight FABP5 maybe as a critical driver of immune
