Understanding vaccine‐induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT)
AbstractVaccine‐induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) is a rare, but serious, syndrome characterised by thrombocytopenia, thrombosis, a markedly raised D‐dimer and the presence of anti‐platelet factor‐4 (PF4) antibodies following COVID‐19 adenovirus vector vaccination.

SARS-CoV-2 vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia [PDF]
SARS-CoV-2 vaccines have been carefully developed and significantly alleviate the global pandemic. However, a rare but severe complication after vaccination of adenoviral vector vaccines has attracted worldwide attention. It is characterized by thrombosis at unusual sites (often cerebral or abdominal), thrombocytopenia, and the presence of antibodies ...

A Case of COVID-19 Vaccine-Induced Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia
This report discusses a case of a 37-year-old female who developed vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) after receiving the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccination. The patient first presented to the ED with complaints of a worsening headache. Labs were significant for thrombocytopenia with a platelet count of 22,000, and the patient was

Pathogenesis of vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT)
Vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT; synonym, thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, is associated with high-titer immunoglobulin G antibodies directed against platelet factor 4 (PF4). These antibodies activate platelets via platelet FcγIIa receptors, with platelet activation greatly enhanced by PF4.

Vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia and patients with cancer
Vaccines to combat SARS-CoV-2 infection and the COVID-19 pandemic were quickly developed due to significant and combined efforts by the scientific community, government agencies, and private sector pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Following vaccine development, which took less than a year to accomplish, randomized placebo controlled clinical

Deep vein thrombosis as thrombotic sequelae of vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia
Abstract Administration of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 (AstraZeneca) vaccination has recently been associated with rare, unusual cases of thrombotic events. We report a case of a 55-year-old woman who presented to hospital with headaches, petechial rashes and bruising—7 days after receiving her first vaccine dose.

NETosis and thrombosis in vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia
Abstract Vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) is a rare yet serious adverse effect of the adenoviral vector vaccines ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 (AstraZeneca) and Ad26.COV2.S (Janssen) against COVID-19. The mechanisms involved in clot formation and thrombocytopenia in VITT are yet to be fully determined.

Vaccine-Induced Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia: Insights from Blood Smear [PDF]
Vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) is a thrombotic complication mimicking heparin induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). This very rare but severe thrombotic complication occurs post vaccination against SARS-Cov-2. Diagnosis of VITT remains challenging, but a current consensus report suggests a 10-point guideline for early detection of VITT ...

Eltrombopag for refractory vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia
Vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) is a life-threatening complication described after administration of recombinant adenoviral vector encoding the spike protein antigen of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus-2. The syndrome is characterized by platelet consumption and thrombosis.

COVID-19 vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a highly transmissible and pathogenic coronavirus responsible for the pandemic coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19). It has significant impact on human health and public safety along with negative social and economic consequences.
