HBsAg-vectored DNA vaccines elicit concomitant protective responses to multiple CTL epitopes relevant in human disease. [PDF]
Vaccines capable of controlling neoplastic and infectious diseases which depend on the cellular immune response for their resolution, have proven difficult to develop.

Comparing the immune response to a novel intranasal nanoparticle PLGA vaccine and a commercial BPI3V vaccine in dairy calves [PDF]
peer-reviewedBackground There is a need to improve vaccination against respiratory pathogens in calves by stimulation of local immunity at the site of pathogen entry at an early stage in life. Ideally such a vaccine preparation would not be inhibited by

A genome‐wide CRISPR screen and identifies PIK3CA as a key regulator of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) uptake is performed. Modulating PIK3CA with small‐molecule inhibitor BAY1082439 enhanced LNP uptake, siRNA delivery, and gene silencing in a variety of epithelial cells, and improved therapeutic outcomes in vivo.

Long-lasting cross-protection against influenza A by neuraminidase and M2e-based immunization strategies [PDF]
There is mounting evidence that in the absence of neutralizing antibodies cross-reactive T cells provide protection against pandemic influenza viruses. Here, we compared protection and CD8+ T cell responses following challenge with H1N1 2009 pandemic and

Doehl et al. discovered an adaptive neuroimmune mechanism that induces itch in tick‐exposed guinea pigs, enabling rapid tick removal. This itch‐induced tick removal (IITR) is mediated by an adaptive cellular immune response and is independent of IgG, IgE, or TRPV1.

Recent Progress in Vaccine Development Against Chikungunya Virus
Chikungunya fever (CHIKF) is an acute infectious disease that is mediated by the mosquito-transmitted chikungunya virus (CHIKV). People infected with CHIKV may experience high fever, severe joint pain, skin rash, and headache.

Measuring serum antibody to human papillomavirus following infection or vaccination [PDF]
The family of human papillomaviruses (HPVs) includes more than 130 genotypes, many of which infect the genital tract, and these can be classified as low risk or high risk for induction of genital neoplasia.

Characterization of a Human Powered Nebulizer Compressor for Resource Poor Settings [PDF]
Background Respiratory disease accounts for three of the ten leading causes of death worldwide. Many of these diseases can be treated and diagnosed using a nebulizer. Nebulizers can also be used to safely and efficiently deliver vaccines.

This study investigates the impact of various post‐processing methods (filtration, sonication, dialysis, and heating) on lipid nanoparticles produced using microfluidics. The nanoparticles are designed for efficient delivery of miRNA into cells. The work highlights how processing conditions influence nanoparticle stability and quality, providing ...
