A Guide to the Application of Vacuum Circuit Breakers

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems / Technical Operations Committee, 1971
The paper shows that the vacuum circuit breaker is well suited for the duties that a circuit breaker must perform. Reasonable care must be taken under certain circumstances when applying these breakers. Such applications are identified and simple corrective measures are proposed.

Vacuum circuit breakers

1982
The vacuum circuit breaker has fascinated the switchgear designer for many years, primarily because of the great advantages of vacuum interrupters, which are: (a) They are entirely self contained, need no supplies of gases or liquids and emit no flame or gas.

Vacuum circuit breaker with asymmetrical actuator

IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exhibition, 2003
During the last decades vacuum replaced air, oil and almost SF/sub 6/ as switching medium in medium voltage circuit breakers. Beside the ecological and economic advantages vacuum is a proper solution for all switching applications. The range of applications last from switching of loads, such as transformers, motors to the switching of short circuit ...

Low Surge Vacuum Circuit Breakers

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1985
Low surge vacuum circuit breakers were developed which used a new electrode material cobalt-silver-selenium alloy. Their chopping current level was below 1.0 A and their high frequency current interruption ability was about 24 Aus. These levels were much lower than those of conventional electrode materials and did not change after load current ...
