The impact of capacitor bank inrush current on field emission current in vacuum [PDF]
Field emission current measurements during the recovery voltage are investigated to understand the origin of restrikes in vacuum interrupters in case of the interruption of capacitive loads. Measurement and analysis of very small field emission currents (

Enhancement of Breakdown Strength by Microdischarge under Impulse Voltage Applications in Vacuum [PDF]
An investigation of charge behavior such as microdischarge under high electric field in vacuum is very important in order to enhance the electrical insulation performance of vacuum circuit breakers and vacuum interrupters (VCB/VI).

Stacked nanoflake assembly (SNA) membranes can oscillate autonomously, offering opportunities for soft actuation and energy harvesting. This work uncovers the physical mechanism behind the sustained oscillation of SNA membranes in gradient humidity and identifies three governing dimensionless parameters, enabling rational design for optimizing SNA ...

Interrupted pumpdown of a vacuum system [PDF]
The pressure rise due to a surface outgassing process following a real pump closure has been analyzed and found under a physically reasonable parameter selection to occur very quickly yet result in a very slight actual pressure change. Real leaks thus should be able to be distinguished from surface outgassing processes by this technique.

Characterizing the diffuse vacuum arc voltage for MVDC circuit breaker applications: experiment, data, and empirical model [PDF]
Proposed hybrid DC circuit breaker concepts rely on the arc voltage in vacuum interrupters to commutate fault currents to parallel branches. This paper presents an extensive experimental investigation of the diffuse vacuum arc voltage of an industrially ...

3D Printed Multimaterial Microfluidic Transistors
We introduce a biocompatible, high resolution photopolymer resin that closely mimics the Young's Modulus (elasticity) and reversible stretchability (no hysteresis) of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), enabling the fabrication of microfluidic transistors (i.e., microvalves capable of proportional amplification) by multimaterial stereolithography (mSLA ...
