Spoilage of Vacuum-Packaged Refrigerated Beef by Clostridium
A motile, gram-positive, spore forming, anaerobic, psychrotrophic bacterial species, probably from the genus Clostridium , was involved in spoilage of vacuum-packaged refrigerated fresh beef. The spoilage was associated with accumulation of large quantities of foul smelling gas and purge in the bag and loss of color and texture of the meat. Attempts to

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Using Cross-Linked SU-8 to Flip-Chip Bond, Assemble, and Package MEMS Devices [PDF]
This paper investigates using an SU-8 photoresist as an adhesive material for flip-chip bonding, assembling, and packaging microelectromechanical systems devices. An important factor, when using SU-8 as an adhesive material is to control ultraviolet (UV)

A new hybrid implicit-explicit FDTD method for local subgridding in multiscale 2-D TE scattering problems [PDF]
The conventional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method with staggered Yee scheme does not easily allow including thin material layers, especially so if these layers are highly conductive.

Campylobacter jejuni in Vacuum Packaged Processed Turkey
This study evaluated the effect of vacuum packaged storage at 4°C upon survival of Campylobacter jejuni in processed turkey roll and turkey ham. Turkey ham and turkey roll samples were sliced, inoculated with C. jejuni , vacuum packaged, and stored at 4°C for up to 28 d. Three different strains of C. jejuni were evaluated. After appropriate incubation,

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.
