The OAI Data-Provider Registration and Validation Service [PDF]
I present a summary of recent use of the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) registration and validation services for data-providers. The registration service has seen a steady stream of registrations since its launch in 2002, and there are now over 220 registered repositories. I examine the validation logs to produce a breakdown of reasons why repositories

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.

Identification of damage based on frequency response function (FRF) data
Mechanical joints, particularly fasteners such as bolted joints have a complex non-linear behaviour. The non-linearity might emerge from the material, geometry or by the contacts in the joints.

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

The effect of laser stitch welding residual stress on the dynamic behaviour of thin steel structure
Laser stitch welding is one of the most reliable and efficient permanent metal joining processes in the automotive industry, particularly in the manufacturing of a car body-in-white (BIW).

Estimating Subagging by cross-validation [PDF]
In this article, we derive concentration inequalities for the cross-validation estimate of the generalization error for subagged estimators, both for classification and regressor. General loss functions and class of predictors with both finite and infinite VC-dimension are considered.

Effects of dark counts on digital silicon photomultipliers performance [PDF]
Digital Silicon Photomultipliers (dSiPM) are novel light detector that integrates single-photon avalanche photodiodes and CMOS logic into a single silicon chip and have been used for developing new, high performance detectors for Positron Emission ...

The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.
