ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Validating the Need to Validate Code [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Today, 2005
© 2005 American Institute of Physics, S-0031-9228-0508-220-7 Validating the Need to Validate Code T article “Computational Science Demands a New Paradigm” by Douglass Post and Lawrence Votta (PHYSICS TODAY, January 2005, page 35) makes some good points about the pitfalls of believing computed physics.

A psychometric analysis of the Japanese version of the clinically useful depression outcome scale supplemented with questions for the DSM‐5 anxious distress specifier (CUDOS‐A)

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports
Aim The aim of the study was to identify the clinical significance of anxiety in those with depression, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th edition (DSM‐5) defined criteria for an anxious distress specifier for major depressive ...

Multi‐omic characterization of consensus molecular subtype 1 (CMS1) colorectal cancer with dampened immune response improves precision medicine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study highlights the importance of multi‐omic analyses in characterizing colorectal cancers. Indeed, our analysis revealed a rare CMS1 exhibiting dampened immune activation, including reduced PD‐1 expression, moderate CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, and suppressed JAK/STAT pathway.

Optimisation Validation

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2007
AbstractWe introduce the idea of optimisation validation, which is to formally establish that an instance of an optimising transformation indeed improves with respect to some resource measure. This is related to, but in contrast with, translation validation, which aims to establish that a particular instance of a transformation undertaken by an ...

Validation of association

open access: yesInsurance: Mathematics and Economics, 2020
Recognizing, quantifying and visualizing associations between two variables is increasingly important. This paper investigates how a new function-valued measure of dependence, the quantile dependence function, can be used to construct tests for independence and to provide an easily interpretable diagnostic plot of existing departures from the null ...

Correlation between scores obtained by medical students in various educational courses and Basic Sciences and Pre-internship Comprehensive Exams

open access: yesDevelopment Strategies in Medical Education, 2016
Introduction: Predictive validity is one of important characteristics of a test; it means that what extent a test predicts scores of criterion test. This type of validity can be obtained through determining correlation between scores of two tests.

Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...
