Protein Phosphatase PP2C Identification in Entamoeba spp. [PDF]

open access: yesBiomed Res Int, 2021
Entamoeba histolytica is the causative agent of amoebiasis, and Entamoeba dispar is its noninvasive morphological twin. Entamoeba invadens is a reptilian parasite. In the present study, Western blot, phosphatase activity, immunofluorescence, and bioinformatic analyses were used to identify PP2C phosphatases of E. histolytica, E. dispar, and E. invadens.

Response of diatom assemblages to orbital‐ and millennial‐scale climatic variability since the penultimate glacial maximum in the northern limit of the Neotropics

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 38, Issue 5, Page 750-766, July 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT Lake Chalco, in Central Mexico, has a long diatom record which provides an excellent opportunity to document the biotic and hydrological responses of this ecosystem to orbital‐ and millennial‐scale climatic variability during the last 150 ka. Detrended correspondence analysis was used to evaluate the ecological turnover and to identify diatom ...

Metamorphosis and seasonality are major determinants of chytrid infection in a paedomorphic salamander

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, Volume 26, Issue 3, Page 340-354, June 2023., 2023
In this study, we aimed to determine the influence of metamorphic status (gilled or non‐gilled individuals) and environmental factors on the infections caused by the fungal pathogen Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis in an endangered facultative paedomorphic salamander from Mexico. We found that B.

Influence of high‐pressure processing on nutritional composition and bioactive compounds of Phaseolus coccineus L

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 87, Issue 12, Page 5289-5302, December 2022., 2022
Abstract The influence of high‐pressure processing (HPP) prior to cooking on nutritional composition and bioactive compounds content of four varieties of Phaseolus coccineus L. was studied. Cooking and HPP+C increased the protein content. However, minerals, total carbohydrates, ciceritol and α‐galactosides were reduced.

Land Subsidence and Aquifer‐System Storage Loss in Central Mexico: A Quasi‐Continental Investigation With Sentinel‐1 InSAR

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 49, Issue 15, 16 August 2022., 2022
Abstract Aquifers play an important role in addressing water needs worldwide. When overexploited, they may lose storage and compact, causing land subsidence and impacts on urban landscapes. Using Sentinel‐1 satellite imagery, we perform the largest ever‐made Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) survey over Mexico, across a 700,000 km2 area ...

Characterization of Boride Coatings on AISI 8620 Steels without and with Hydrogen Permeation

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
The present work studied the characterization of boriding coatings without and with exposed hydrogen permeation on AISI 8620 through microstructure and mechanical behavior. A dehydrated paste pack process was carried out for the formation of boride coatings on AISI 8620 at 1173, 1223, and 1273 K for 6 h of exposure time for each temperature.
